We were quite footloose and fancy-free during our 2-1/2 week driving trip around the UK, and had decided that we would like to spend one night in Edinburgh. We drove past the Abercorn Guest House and liked what we saw - a "Vacancy" sign - so rang the doorbell. We were greeted by Angela and Wally and made to feel so welcome, it was absolutely wonderful! Angela almost talked us out of staying, apologising profusely because the only room she had left was quite small. We chatted, and chatted, and were made to feel so welcome, that we said "Just let us get our bags out of the car, and we are staying!"

After we had unloaded the car and starting getting sorted in our room, there was a knock on the door and Angela appeared with two drams of "ten year old" - just to welcome us to Scotland!

We had a fantastic breakfast, then easily found our way into the city via the local bus - with very specific instructions from our resident tour director, Angela! We decided we wanted to stay an extra night, and were readily accommodated.

The next morning, we enjoyed another wonderful breakfast and with tears in our eyes, bade farewell to Angela and Wally. We also got to say goodbye to their two beautiful King Charles Caveliers, Molly and Charlie, who were allowed out of the back room to get a goodbye pat.

All in all, it was the most enjoyable B&B experience we have had anywhere in the world, and we've already told them that next time we're in town, we'll be staying at the Abercorn Guest House! We've also invited Angela and Wally to look us up if they can ever arrange a trip "Down Under".

Cheers!

We stayed for four nights and had a lovely time.Angela and her family were very welcoming and friendly.
The house is beautifully decorated throughout and the room that we were in was perfect for us,the ensuite was spotless as was everything else. The breakfast(which we could have had in the conservatory) was really good and set us up for the days exploring the city.Angela was really helpful with where to eat and visit, nothing was too much trouble for her.We would recommend the Abercorn as a really good place to stay,no matter how lond a visit you might be thinking about.

my wife and i recently stayed in one of the best guest houses( in our opinion) in Edinburgh.
We go regular for the the Tattoo and Festival.
This BB was very clean and furnishings were excellent.
the Scottish breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
The friendly atmosphere and willingness to go the extra mile was very much appreciated.
Well done Angie for amost enjoyable stay

When I arrived at the Abercorn B&B Guest House, I was very pleased. It is a beautiful and very well maintained home built in 1870. Angela and her family live there and have restored and upgraded the house. Angela is friendly and welcoming. She is helpful and provides an excellent breakfast with a large selection of food. There was plenty to eat. The choices comprised of cereals, breads, yogurt, fruits, eggs, meats, juices, coffee, tea, jams and jellies. There are snacks and an electric pot to make hot beverages in the room. The room was lovely and the bathroom in the room was beautiful. Everything was very clean, nicely decorated and cheery. I particularly enjoyed my breakfast in the sun room. The weather was fantastic.

I walked to the beach several days which is only a few blocks from the Abercorn B&B.

My last day walking back fron the beach, I stopped to sit on a bench at a beautiful little park one block from Abercorn B&B. This was a nice ending to a very busy and fun extended weekend to Edinburgh.

I highly recommend the Abercorn B&B. It was an excellent retreat after a busy day in Centre City. The price is reasonable. The house is beautiful. Angela knows how to treat her guest.

I agree with the July 22 review. I stayed at the Abercorn in July too after reading the rave reviews. I admit that my expectations were set high after that and so I was a little (just a little) disappointed when I arrived. It is quite a ways outside of the city but the bus stop is close to the house and it takes you directly to Princes St. But at the same time it was neat to be so close to the beach. I did also have problems with the toilet flushing well and the shower pressure. But overall I was comfortable there and Angela was definitely very nice and helpful.
