In our recent visit to Edinburgh my wife and I stayed at this fantastic Guest House for two nights.
Angela and Her Husband are most welcoming and run this beautiful house, which is located only two minutes from a lovely clean beach and a 15 minutes Bus ride from the town center. The room we stayed in NO 3 was immaculately clean with en-suite shower and toilets and plenty of fresh towels.
The double bed was large and comfortable and the delicious breakfast was served in the beautiful Sunroom.
We loved the place and our hosts so much we asked them to adopt us several times.
Highly recommended.

This is the third time i have stayed at the Abercorn Guest house and each time it has been an enjoyable experience. The house is a lovely building set in a lovely walled garden, very close to the beach. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, with little extra touches ,such as fresh flowers, shower gel, hand cream ect. Angela ,the owner, goes out of her way to make every guest feel welcome and special .Breakfast at the Abercorn is a treat. There is plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast is cooked to perfection. After eating breakfast you certainly won't want to eat lunch until very late in the afternoon as it's so plentiful.
Myself and husband would not dream of staying anywhere else when we visit Edinburgh.

We recently stayed at the abercorn for 3 nights. From arriving to leaving we were made extremley welcome, the room and surroundings were 1st class tastefully presented and spotlessly clean.White chrisp cotton sheets, and super soft furnishings. The breakfast was to die for Angela and her husband were great hosts, will definatley be back in the new year

Just returned after 2 days at this wonderful hotel. We wanted somewhere out of the centre of Edinburgh (due to the Edinburgh Tattoo etc) and found the Abercorn fitted all our requirements . Angela and her father made us very welcome and the breakfast was superb.
The house itself is over 150 years old and retains all its charm and a lot of original features but wilth 21st century facilities.
We had a lovely room overlooking the garden, very comfortable bed and Angela will book taxis ,meal reservations etc.as she doesnt do an evening meal but there are some good restaurants and bars close by.
It costs about £9.50 taxi into Edinburgh but we found the bus service excellent ---one every 10 minutes and the bus stop is just along the road.
Dont be put off because there is no car park----there is a lot of free parking in the side street next to the hotel and on the main road.
We shall certainly go back.

My husband and I spent two nights, 10th and 11th August, at the Abercorn Guest House. Angela, the owner, gave us a very warm welcome and we felt at home straight away. Our room was immaculate, comfortable and very stylish. There were two individual bottles of wine in the room, red and white, and when she found out that we preferred white they were immediately changed to white. The breakfasts were well cooked from local produce and very plentiful. We did not eat again until the evening as they sustained 2 people, that like their food, until an early evening dinner. Parking is very plentiful on the road outside, a real plus for visiting Edinburgh.

It was very unusual to spend the day in the very bustling city of Edinburgh (there is a frequent bus service just outside the door, £2.50 for an all day ticket) then be able to walk along Portobello beach prom in the evening. We found Portobello a facinating contrasting area. You wouldn't want to spend your summer holiday there but as a base its brilliant. There are adequate restaurants in the area but if you want something a bit better I would go into the city to eat, but then you wouldn't get your seaside stroll afterwards.

This was a marvellous short break so enhanced by Angela's warm humourous approach and beautiful house. Any trip to Edinburgh must begin with the Abercorn. Where else would you naturally get a cuddle and a peck on the cheek when you leave because you automatically feel part of the Abercorn family.
Thanks very much Angela - Chris and Terry
