We've been home just over a month, and we're already wishing we were back in Scotland. Abercorn was the best place we stayed. It's looks the same as the photos on the web site. Spotlessly clean and tidy, it feels like a home away from home.
Angela, our host was fantastic. She's like a long lost friend you've lost touch with, but when you see them again nothing has changed. She's got maps and info to point you in the right direction for sightseeing, shopping or dining. There's easy parking right near Abercorn. We caught the bus into Edinburgh which is roughly a 10-15mins trip, it's very easy to get around and we didn't have to worry about car parks. There are buses that stop right out the front of the property every 10mins or so.
We felt so at home here, I can't wait to go back. My husband mostly misses the breakfast. Abercorn is great value for money.
Thankyou Angela, we had a wonderful time.

Angela MacDonald is an amazing host as are her staff, including her father (loved him) and her husband.

Rooms beautifully finished, spotlessley clean, have everything you need (except clothes hook in bathroom for room 4 - Angela will laugh at this (in joke)).

Breakfast wonderful.

Location brilliant - free on-street safe parking with No 26 bus running every few minutes straight into the centre of Edinburgh - day ticket £2.50 per person per day. Must be cheaper than parking the car in central Edinburgh.

We ate in three local restaurants, St Andrews (Italian - my favourite), Chinese across the road - very good waitress with lots of character) and the Finest restaurant turn left out of hotel and few hundred yards down road - excellent attentive waiter, fabby food.

My husbands favourite pub was turn right out of hotel and 3/10 of mile up road - can't remember the name of it sells draught Bass and other "hand pull" beers.

We took our own wine to drink when we returned to our room (wine glasses provided by Angela as standard), the second night we had a small complimentary bottle provided foc. Nice touch.

The whole area is totally unspoilt (in November anyway).

We will return and recommend to all.

Without a doubt the best B&B I have ever stayed in. A home away from home. Great Atmosphere and Ambiance. Tasty Breakfasts and very friendly Service. Angela is a wonderful Host with a great sense of humour. Everything is near by Restaurants, the Bus Stop and Portobello Beach. I am very glad we chose this B&B and will definitely stay there again.

If you wish to stay in scotland (portabello) in Edinburgh is the place to go, and you must also stay with Angela at the Abercorn guest house, together with her husband and the children they made us feel very much as if we were in our own home, in Australia.
For a family of 5 and to fit us all in one big room, it's a challenge anywhere, the Abercorn took us in all comfortably on top of that it was clean, warm and very comfortable.

Thanks again Angela and family, I'm sure we will be back.
