"Edinburgh", what a city, its just fabolous, and to make our visit even more enjoyable, was the fact that we stayed in Abercorn Guesthouse, seven nights, which was absolutely magnificent, I couldn't compliment Angela and Willie enough on the warm welcome which we received on our arrival, the support we received while making our reservation with them, directions, bus routes etc, it was superb..!! Food presentation alone was perfect, as we would be quite fussy.. A wide selection of yogurts, fruits, cheeses, cereals, grills etc they catered for each individual needs.. Abercorn Guest house is a short distance out of Edinburgh town, (15 mins) but on the doorstep of the guesthouse you can catch a bus every 10-15mins, which was fantastic, this service was available day and night. Abercorn is located just beside a lovely beach, great for a stroll in the mornings...!! We enjoyed our visit to Edinburgh immensely, and its like all visits, if you have superb accommodation, it makes the visit more enjoyable...!!

Once again, thanks a million for all your help and entertaining while we were on a break to your city.. !! We'll be back...!!!

Highly recommended...

We loved our stay at the Abercorn Guest House!

First of all the location is perfect - just an easy bus ride into the heart of Edinburgh AND a very short walk to a beautiful beach on the North Sea. There are also lots of local restaurants and shops if you don't want to go into the city, and a nice park just across the street from the guest house.

Every inch of the house is warm and inviting and beautifully maintained. Our room was lovely - spacious, comfy and very clean. Each day was started with a large delicious Scottish breakfast in the cheery dining area.

Angela is extremely knowledgeable about the area and had fantastic recommendations for our time in Edinburgh. After our long day exploring the city it was a delight to come back to such comfortable accommodations!

I have stayed in many B&B's in the US and a few in the UK and the Abercorn Guest House and its hosts are absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh and can't wait to return.

Wonderful accommodation in a perfect environment. Our ensuite room far exceeded our expectations both in comfort and amenities provided. For a truly friendly and welcoming experience you could not find better. Angela was prompt in her response to my enquiry which gave me confidence from the outset. This efficiency was followed through as the entire family made us welcome. Over an extremely hearty breakfast we were given a detailed overview of how much of Scotland we could cover in three days. We stayed two nights at Abercorn and will definitely return.

  • Liked — The overall warm welcoming family atmosphere
  • Disliked — We found no negatives on our great holiday

All the good things we heard about Abercorn didn't measure up to the real thing. Yes, the rooms were great, Angela is a great hostess, and the rates are more than reasonable for the quality of accommodation. What we hadn't heard were a few other great details. When they say the bus stops at the front door, they mean it. There are several small, good, reasonably priced restruarants within a few blocks, as well as a deli and a small grocers right across the street. And if there is anything you want or need, just ask Angela. She'll happily tell you where to find the best, the most reasonably priced, etc. Even though the house is on a busy street, making it easy to find, it is surrounded by a high wall, trees, and a lovely garden, so you hear little or no street noise. If you like the beach, it's two blocks to the Firth of Forth's sandy shores. Book your room early. Word has gotten out about how great this place is. Hope Angela has room for us on our next trip to Scotland.

  • Liked — Knowing there was a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day
