“Best overall B&B package we have experienced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

Aaron Glen is a remarkable B&B featuring luxury-furnished rooms of high quality and taste with modern and attractive design and fittings. Nothing is missing in these rooms. Carolyn is an exceptional and engaged host who is determined to make visitors feel at home. Parking is available (ideally you should have a car, although a regular bus service into town is nearby) and there are good places to eat within close driving distance - ask Carolyn for recommendations. Breakfast defies description with multiple main course breakfast choices (go for the full Scottish with optional haggis - delicious!), wide ranges of juices and cereals - simply put it is the best B&B breakfast we have ever experienced. Expect to be immobile for few minutes once you have finished breakfast - it is truly a full meal! The "honesty bar" is well stocked and fairly priced. The combination of excellent, clean, well-equipped and attractive rooms with the food and friendliness makes this by far and away the best B&B of the many we have visited to date.

Room Tip: All rooms seem of the same high standard of furnishing and equipment

I came across this on trip advisor, I was really looking for somewhere in the centre, as we went by train, but there didnt seem to be anything available at a resonable price. When I phoned to enquire Carolyn was extremely helpful and emailed over the directions straight away. This is a lovely B & B as long as you are travelling by car. Admittedly there is a bus just down the road and they do run every 15 minutes into the centre of Edinburgh, but you spend about 45 minutes getting there, so you generally spend an hour each way, there is also nothing else around so again you are stuck without transport, if you wanted to go and freshen up and then go out, its pretty difficult, which we would have preferred to do. So we just stayed and ate in the centre, then came back to the place. There is a nice bar, with very reasonable prices, so we settled in there in the evening. The room was nice and clean, but the bed was on the small size, I think it must have been a small double. The breakfast was out of this world, and set you up for the day, and Carolyn was excellent company, going around chatting to everyone. We would stay here again for sure, if we were travelling by car, but by train I would stay in the centre

We stayed for one night and we had a lovely room. It was very peaceful, the food was excellent. Carolyn was most helpful when I made the booking and gave me a recommendation for a dinner venue. I looked it up on the web and was pleased with it so I booked a table. Although it was a little distance from Aaron Glen it was a fantastic meal with great service and well worth the money.
Carolyn gave a route into Edinburgh as there are diversions in place and a run was also taking place today. We found our way very easily thanks to her advice.
She has an Honesty bar which is very well stocked and exceptionally well priced.

We would certainly recommend this as a great place to stay with excellent service and a really nice Host.

This place is fantastic,
It has the quality of a Luxuary hotel with the personal touch you get with a B&B.

There is nothing that could improve this place Carolyne makes everyone feel welcome.

The location is great close to Roslyn chaple and on the edge of town ( also close to the best IKEA in the UK).

Thanks again Caroline for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here for one night. We wanted a place to crash in Edinburgh to experience the Festival, but everything I researched was either booked out or exceptionally expensive. I stumbled across this place (I think on here) and read the reviews and when I rang, they could accommodate us.

This is not in the prettiest part of Loanhead, it's off a busy main road and has some industrial units around it. Do not be put off by what you find outside! This place benefits from ample easy free carparking and inside the property is immaculate. It is exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated in a contemporary neutral style with lots of thoughtful touches, ie KitKats and fresh flowers in the bedroom. Our ensuite was finished with high quality ceramics (both wall and fittings), a decent shower and enough big white towels. And we were not hassled out of our room come check out time. Top marks for this.

At home our bedroom looks over fields, therefore we are used to peace and quiet, so I was a touch concerned about the location of our bedroom. (We were allocated a room at the front of the property overlooking the main road). I had the best nights sleep I've had in ages. You could not hear anything - decent double glazing rules! The bed was very comfortable and it was dressed in fresh white linen.

So why would you want to stay here if you are after a good time in Edinburgh? V. simply this venue is located approx 1 minute from a bus stop that takes you straight into the heart of Edinburgh for £1.30. No fuss, the buses are frequent, fast, run late into the night, and they put the pleasure back into being a tourist. It's also not that far from Rosslyn Chapel, I guess a ten minute car journey, so this accommodation is in an excellent location.

We experienced a warm welcome and genuine service. The hostess kindly gave me two tips for shows in Edinburgh (I loved both, my other half just one of them) and she also recommended a restaurant. Again good food and it's one to remember for next time we are in Edinburgh.

Speaking of food it is fair to say the breakfast is hearty - again decent quality ingredients (amazing sausages) and cooked to perfection. You will not leave the table hungry here.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this establishment. It is fairly priced, the housekeeping is of the highest standards and the service and food are great.

Previous reviewers have said it all about the first class accommodation, breakfast and welcome at this deservedly popular guest house. Although it is some distance from Edinburgh city centre it is on a bus route and the fare is only £1.30 so this is not a major draw back. However, the view from our bedroom window was onto a repair garage and beyond onto a large compound that was floodlit at night. Neither caused us much disturbance but the view was hardly picturesque.

No better hospitality could be found anywhere! Caroline is superb as it's host. She even gave us a quick ride to nearby to the DaVinci Chapel. All that the earlier reviews mention is completely correct - great attentive staff, breakfasts, open bar available for nominal charge, modern rooms, and very good bus service into Edinburgh. We took advantage of them all. A young Italian couple with two small children enjoyed the attention of Carolie and her staff. Great for family stays!
We took taxi from airport to Aaron Glen and then buses. The nighly rates remained the same despite the August Festival. So many other places raised rates so high as to be prohibitive. It is outside the central city but easily got to by auto. And never take an auto into the city. All the other guests also used buses, caught right outside the entrance. We stayed four nights to enjoy the festival events, had lovely dinners and headed back to our great B&B where a whisky awaited me! We reluctantly left for St Andrews.

Room Tip: No particular tip since all looked fine to us.
