I had a single room (No 11) on the first floor for three nights during the Festival. The 4-poster bed was very comfortable, the room perfectly adequate and I certainly couldn't fault the bathroom. Everything I needed! The room overlooked the garden and was very quiet. The buffet breakfast was more than I expected - good choice and plenty of it. The owners & staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I arrived at 8am (long before check-in) and was able to freshen up in the hotel facilities, partake of breakfast and leave my suitcase in reception; this enabled me to enjoy the delights of Edinburgh (within walking distance or choice of buses) until I returned later to check in to my room. My family were concerned that I was on my own but I felt perfectly safe and happy in the Hotel Ritz. I certainly hope to return. The Ritz has a character all of its own.
There are some "rough edges" which I know the owners are gradually ironing out but these minor matters were of no consequence to me.
