We've just returned from a wonderful vacation in Edinburgh, and stayed at the charming Adria House. Edward and Maria, the owners, are wonderful hosts, and the accommodations were all we've read about previously on this web site. The rooms are spotless, we had our own bathroom, which was immaculate, with plenty of hot water. The rooms are quiet as our room faced the garden in the back. Edward is charming, and very, very helpful. Maria, our breakfast host, is a lovely person, and has a wonderful smile. It's a full breakfast with juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and excellent coffee or tea. It's an inexpensive taxi ride to downtown Edinburgh or the Hollyrood Palace. And, there are several good restaurants within walking distance. For it's location, hospitality, comfort and service, it's an exceptional value and highly recommended.

Lovely Edinburgh B&B. Stayed a few nights in a single room, using shared bathroom facility. Bed was clean and comfortable, room was spacious enough, bathroom was clean and functional. Breakfasts were of high quality and filling. The hosts were friendly and obliging. The location is good, being right next to Calton Hill and a short walk from the new town.

Only gripe is that the front room I had was a bit noisy. The road outside is cobbled, meaning cars make a bit of noise as they drive past, and the window was a single pane of glass. As it happens I sleep with earplugs in place and this was enough to stop any road noise. However light sleepers like myself would be well advised to ask for a non-frontal room - or wear earplugs!

All up a great B&B. I'll certainly try staying here again if I ever have cause to return to Edinburgh.

I would highly recommend the Adria for a short break in Edinburgh. This is not a luxury accomoadtion by any means, but it certainly does the trick without blowing the budget.

Our room was quite large and faced the back garden. The bathroom was basic, but spotless. (bring your own shampo, etc., as none is provided). The breakfast was good enough. The location is perfect.

It's about a five minute walk from the B&B to shops and restaurants, and about a 10-15 minute walk to the old town. It's located on a fairly quite 'cresent' comprised mainly of other hotels, etc.

One slight downside is the parking. It's pay-and-display, but with only a 4-hour time limit. This was fine for us, but if you're staying a few days with a car, I would recommend one of the nearby garages.

Above all, the staff were really, really friendly and accomoadting! This always helps make and OK place great.

My wife and I stayed at the Adria House for seven days during the Fringe Festival last week and loved it. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious and served in a large, pleasant room. Service was impeccable. Edward was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with area information, travel arrangements, and suggestions. The location is away from the main street and quiet. We walked everywhere. Many restaurants are only a block away as are the bus stops. The owners are extremely nice people and made our stay extra special. I highly recommend this guest house to visitors.
