“Great price and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

I went to Edinburgh at the end of August for the back end of the numerous festivals happening in Edinburgh. I was so pleased that I stayed at this hotel - the receptionists (especially Karmen) were really friendly, informative and cheery. We were welcomed quickly and efficiently, and greeted every time we passed the reception. Check out was also easy and quick.

The room itself was very clean and a good size. The bed was comfortable, although personally I would have preferred a slightly softer bed, but I still slept really well! The temperature of the room was really good, and I didn't hear any noise from the road outside. We were given 2 sets of towels and 2 pillows each which made the room that bit more comfortable, and it was all presented nicely and without fuss. There was also tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer, a fan, bodywash/shampoo and clothes hangers. The room was on the second floor, and didn't have a view - it's a budget hotel which was more than sufficient for our trip.

We stayed for 2 nights and each morning got breakfast in the connecting Beefeater. The first day we had a continental breakfast (around £5.50), consisting of bread, croissants, yoghurts, fruit, cereal and a good selection of drinks. The second day we had a full breakfast (£8.25 ish) which included hot food in addition to the above. It was pleasant and kept us full for a long time.

The hotel itself is about a 20 minute bus ride from the city centre and the train station, but don't let this put you off. It is served by bus routes 4, 44 and 113, which mean you never have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a bus. A day pass is £3.50 and a single is £1.40, but make sure you have exact change as you won't be given anything back.

Definitely would stay here again, especially at the price we paid - £49pn! Good value for money.

We stayed here on a quick trip to Edinburgh in Oct 2011. The staff was wonderful! I can't say more positive things about this hotel chain. While this hotel is not in the city center, it's just a quick city bus journey. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel, instead choosing to eat at the Radical Road Pub across the street---wonderful. But, we did have the breakfast which was great. The hotel has free parking in the back. You won't go wrong at this hotel and the price can't be beat.

Comfy bed and we slept well except on last night (due to bathroom fan).
However hotel seems very run down when compared with other PI's. Hot water was slow, no inner liners on pillows, no chain /secure lock for bedroom door, room was very, very stuffy despite open window and fan. Carpets throughout were grubby.
There is no lift and just a narrow staircase, although we were offered help with luggage on arrival.
"Premier" Breakfast in the restaurant next door was very grim.
However the reception staff were cheerful.
Price was escalated due to Edinburgh festival.
We have stayed in many PI's before (as well as Holiday Inn Expresses etc) - this was our worst experience by far and will avoid this particular PI in future.

Another pleasant experience at a Premier Inn. We did feel this one was slightly overpriced for a Friday and Saturday night stay but it did the job again perfectly, no frills but excellent friendly staff, clean comfortable room and matched with a Beefeater eatery for Breakfast, again staffed by pleasant helpful staff. As a note for others this one lies around 3 miles out from the centre but is on a bus route if required although we found no problems parking in the centre.

I only wish they would put 2 bath towels in the rooms when they have couples staying instead of the standard 1 and a couple of face towels!

Room Tip: We had room 37 on the top floor and being at the rear was very quiet if you need that

The room was suitable in size and had a comfortable bed. This is exactly what Premier Inns are about. Shower was good, the pressure was high enough to have a satisfactory shower. And both the shower and room were clean. The only issue was when we booked we thought we had a car for the night. But when that proved not to be the case it meant the hotel was further out than we anticipated.

We have just returned from 2 nights and would highly recommend this Inn. It has free parking and the number 44 bus takes you to Princes Street in about 20 minutes (£3.50 for 2 adults and 1 child). The bedrooms are immaculate and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was also spotless. We will be staying in this hotel again.
