“Great location for a weekend in Edinburgh with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

I stayed here with my 2 children in March and cannot fault this hotel. I had requested a quiet room and was not disappointed. The location is fairly central although we did get a taxi to and from the hotel to Waverley station. The children and I were made to feel very welcome by the hotel staff and I would not hesitate in returning.

Very good budget hotel a 5-10 minute stroll away from the action of the Royal Mile, Castle & other sights. Close to local bars, restaurants & cafes beneath the Castle & there are a few routes back to the tourist sites. If you need a more level route ask the staff otherwise the alternative route is very hilly, as is everywhere in Edinburgh.

The room was spacious, mattress & pillows very comfortable & spacious King size bed all made for a good stay. The rooms at the back of the hotel were very quiet, however the adjoining hotel started moving refuse bins at 7am so if you want a lie in request a room at the front. Good power shower & little extras like shampoo/shower gel, iron & board. The staff were very pleasant & helpful, safely storing luggage & offering tourist information. As previously mentioned the hotel is near some seedy bars & lap dancing club, but don't let this put you off, it is a nice hotel, felt safe, decently priced & would choose again

Don't let the somewhat shabby entrance to this hotel put you off. It's a great stay, very close to most of the sites (walking distance) and at a very reasonable price. The rooms are adequate and comfortable, beds are good. Very friendly and welcoming staff!
Great breakfast... good way to start the day!

The room was big, the bed was huge and comfortable, the breakfast was the usual fayre but great value at only £8.25. The room was quiet and dark - concussive to a good might's sleep. No negative comments really - an all-round good mid-range hotel. Ideal for a weekend sightseeing in Edinburgh.

Me and my 10 year old daughter decided to go on a little one night break in Edinburgh. We wanted to be near the centre of town We were expecting a simple, small room but clearly, we were wrong!
When we arrived, too early to check in, the receptionist (Liam) was very helpful and put our bag in a small shelved room. When we came back from a long walking day, our twin room Was a lovely surprise. Two big single beds were in the middle of the room with lots of excess space. It was very comfortable but we were near a main road and despite the double glazing, the traffic was very noisy.
We had seen many signs advertising the breakfast and they were accurate. There was cereal, fruit, full Scottish, patisserie and various juices and hot drinks. We were full to bursting by the end.
Overall, the staff were very friendly and made our stay enjoyable. The location is a 20 minute walk from Waverly Station and 5 minutes from the busy Grassmarket area. We would definitely go back.

Nice hotel, very comfortable bed. Breakfast has room for improvement, good quantity but very bland food.
Near Grassmarket and easy to walk to Prices Street, the Castle and Royal Mile. Bus stop very close, including nº15 that goes to Roslyn Chapel.
Would return if came back to Edinburgh and would recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Higher floor and away from the lifts because of the noise

You couldn't really ask for a better location in Edinburgh, central to the castle and Princes Street and easy to find by road. Though there is no on-site parking, the recommended car park is only a few minutes walk away and not expensive. The hotel itself feels new and fresh, the rooms were large and warm and very clean. Check-in and out was friendly and we enjoyed good value meals both for dinner and breakfast.

Excellent location and good pricing make this a perfect option for city sightseeing in Edinburgh, no need to spend more to have a comfortable stay in this fabulous city.
