Stayed at the Premier Inn Newcraighall in July 2008. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spotless. The only thing I did not like was that it was right next to a railway line but there were only 3 trains passed when we were there and they were not very loud so it was not too bad. The Cuddie Brae next door is quite good for food. There was also live music on when we were there but you could not hear it in the hotel. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and will stay there again.

  • Liked — The comfy bed
  • Disliked — The railway line next to the hotel

Newcraighall Priemer Inn is well located for visiting Edinburgh. Under normal circumstances, it is easy to reach, however some roadworks did disrupt our visit. But, it is well located being right next to Newcraighall Park and Ride from which you can get into Edinburgh in just over ten minutes by train. On Sundays you will need to use the bus, but it is frequent and services run through the night.

Smaller guests are made to feel welcome through gift packs and a chocolate bar hidden under their pillow - a nice touch!

There is a retail park a short walk away complete with a McDonalds which is good for breakfast, the £7.50 per person at the pub next door does soon reduce the "budget" aspect of Premier Inns, so we always try and book near alternatives.

One downside, if you do go here, get a room at the front. A railway line runs right behind the inn. They claim the rooms are insulated against the sound, it didn't feel like it!

  • Liked — Location, ease to reach without driving into Edinburgh and ability to catch train/bus into city
  • Disliked — Noise from railway.

I usually stay here when visiting Queen Margaret Uni. It's just off the A1 so you can just drive up and park. The hotel looks nice from the outside, just been refurbished but still looks a little dated inside. But the rooms are clean and comfortable - just watch out when taking a bath because you will run out of hot water!

You are also right next to a huge shopping centre, so plenty of places to eat if you don't fancy the pub next door.

Travel Inn breakfasts are great - it's usually hard to find decent vegetarian fare, but here you can find something to suit.

Don't stay here if you're looking for a city centre break.

Very convenient location, easy to find off the A1 if coming from the south / east. Park and ride opposite makes getting into the city centre very easy, and the drive to the waterfront to see the Royal Yacht Brittania was also very simple.

Can get some noise from the nearby train line, however we didn't find this a problem overnight.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was very good.

Room was very clean and comfortable, had everything we needed.

Finding the hotel is very easy if you're travelling from the east as it's just off the A1, around 5 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. Parking is free and you're also directly opposite a park and ride into the centre so getting around is easy without a car. Taxi costs around £7.50 into the centre if you prefer.

Check in was easy, receptionist very friendly and the hotel rooms were standard travel inn fare - basic but more than adequate. Rooms were nice and quiet and air-con worked fine.

We had a meal in the adjoiniong pub and it was excellent - far better standard than the usual "brewers fayre" type place that is usuall attached to a travel inn. Very good food at a reasonable price. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent - cooked to order and delicious.

Would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Very good food, good transport to town.
