I went in July which is high season so I thought the price was reasonable compared to other places. The place was clean and comfortable; food was great - maybe a little too good as the scale can attest... Ok, that is an excuse, they offered a nice assortment of fresh fruits and healthy stuff, but when in Scotland, you should do like the Scots, so let go of your inhibitions and indulge in a traditional Scottish breakfast, which I found delicious. The owners were really helpful, if you have any questions or if you want to book restaurants or what to visit. I found the couple charming, nice family run place, feels cozy. LOVE THAT PARROT, CHARLIE!!! If you do tours to the Highlands, which you definitely should if you are there, you can get a discount, just talk to the owners. The only thing that you might get picky about is that Kariba house is not situated right in town, but you can walk (only 15 min) or take the bus into town which is right outside the front steps, so really that is no big deal. The walk is nice, gives you a chance to work off that good food.

We had a great weekend staying at the Kariba Guest House. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast really really nice, my boyfriend especially liked the full cooked Scottish breakfast -wow it was great! They even helped organise our transfer to/from airport and it was only 12 pounds.
I would definitely recommend this place.

Coming from Canada to see our daughter act in the fringe festival, some friends had recommended the Kariba- so we went ahead to book. The owners were really friendly, as we were leaving early in the morning for a bus tour, they packed us a take-away breakfast, which was fab! Room was clean and comfortable with a good view of the garden. Lots of choice for breakfast- fresh fruit was a plus. The room was not cheap, but considering high season, it was good value for money.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Kariba guest house and must strongly disagree with their claim to be "good value " for money. My mum booked this for us in April and was quoted £87 per night for a family of three consisting of two adults and one child of 5 years of age. We were stunned on checking out when we are asked to pay £130 per night ie £260 for a two night stay. They denied the earlier quote that had been given and further, the price which they insisted on was well in excess of the tarrif on their website, which quotes £23 to £40 per adult with reduced rates for children for a family room. I would say the quality of the accomodation certainly did not justify those sorts of prices even bearing in mind this was during the festival. The room itself was shabby and old fashioned and the breakfast was disappointing. The eggs were cold and undercooked and sausages were burnt and cold. I also felt, given the prices charged, that the portions were rather meagre. We were also advised that there would be a charge of an additional £5 to park at the property, but they dont state this on their website, they simply refer to having " private parking" so you would be justified in thinking this was included in the price. To sum up we feel totally ripped off and this experience has marred our weekend. We would advise others to steer clear of this guesthouse, particularly as you could end up paying vastly more than you expected or were quoted. I would also add with reference to an earlier review- the debit and credit card machine is still broken.

my girlfriend and i stayed at the kariba for hogmany 2007/8,it was ok for a guest house but i thought a bit pricey at £100 per room a night i wondered if they had hiked the prices for hogmany.the room was spacious and clean but with it been an old house with high ceilings the radiator struggled to warm it,but it was freezing outside.my only complaint about the room was the en-suite extractor fan which switched on with the light and stayed on for 5 mins once switched off it sounded like a jumbo jet if you just wanted a quick wee during the night.the hotel was well located about 15min walk to town, two bus services which we found best or £5 in taxi which i treat the g/f to once (well it was xmas). The staff were very friendly and helpful, would i recommend this guest house.....if it were £50 room per night yes i would
