Everything is very good...room is comfortable, many choice for breakfast....Just a little bit away the city centre. there is a nice chinese take away near this hotel....

I stayed here whilst visiting Edinburgh for the 'Moon Walk ' with friends. What a gem of a place. Wonderful,warm owners. Their hospitality surpasses expectation. We stayed in the family room as we needed a triple room which tends to be difficult to find. The room was large,spotlessly clean & well appointed. It had a double bed & 2 singles so perfect for a family. Although not in the city centre it is in a lovely area of Edinburgh, very easy to find off the bypass & on an excellent bus route. I can highly recommend this guesthouse.

I returned to Edinburgh and to the Highfield for a second visit in April. If possible, my second stay at the Highfield was even better than my first. I was greeted by the owners upon my early morning arrival (after an all-night flight from Boston) and shown to my room, which had been cleaned for me that morning so that I could take a nap before exploring the city. Both my room and my bathroom had been tastefully re-decorated since my first visit, including the addition of a flat screen TV with many channels.The breakfast choices were many (and Maggie made sure I had my daily green banana). My room was comfortable, spotless, and had everything I needed. The house itself and the rooms are lovely, but the best thing about the Highfield is the people who own it; they are warm and friendly and truly care about their guests; they go out of their way to make the guests feel welcome and at home. I am already planning my next visit to the wonderfuly city of Edinburgh and to the Highfield Guest House.

On a recommendation from a discerning and well travelled friend I stayed in the Highfield Guest House a few months ago on a business trip to the city and have just returned from my 3rd stay (this time for leisure with my partner) and like myself I am sure you will stay more than just the once.

The guest house is within a leisurely stroll or short bus ride of the main attractions of Edinburgh situated in a charming residential area. The house itself is a mature, immaculately maintained building full of character and charm, and if in a car I found plenty of parking within the vicinity with no charges and was able to leave the car all day to explore the city.

The hosts were all native Edinburgh folk so had a wealth of information and insider knowledge to guide me during my stay from the latest restaurants and cocktail bars to the best coach trip to see the highlands.

My room was faultless, the impeccable decor and bedding reminded me more of an up market hotel unlike the usual travel type hotels I have used before; the en-suite was so clean it squeaked and the temperature of the room was like home.

Finally I must mention the outstanding Scottish breakfast, from the unexpected chilled glass that my fruit juice was served in to the huge array of options including their cooked breakfast and if a vegetarian like myself you will not go without and must try the veggie haggis which set me up for the day. 10/10
