This was our third trip to Edinburgh and our third stay at The Beverley. Quite frankly, my husband and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It feels like our home away from home. We know the rooms, the bus routes, have our favorite pub and neighborhood grocery near by, and Judy Hutchinson always makes us feel completely welcome. She's a one-woman wealth of knowledge about the area as well, even if it means helping us find some obscure old kirk and cemetary on a map. Somehow she knows them all, can point us in the right direction and usually knows the busline that will get us there.

The rooms are always clean, fresh and comfortable. They've added a wi fi network so you can hop online from your room and keep abreast of your emails. They've also upgraded their TV's, though the rooms upstairs still have a little trouble with reception.

And the breakfasts are always the same - they hit the spot and keep you going all morning.

A five star hotel couldn't possibly be better.

  • Liked — The comfort and sense of welcome.
  • Disliked — The rooms can be very cold in the winter and the type of heaters in the rooms aren't sufficient for the height of the ceilings.

My friend and I visited London and Edinburgh in October of 2007 for a "girls getaway" and we loved The Beverley. It was exactly what we were looking for, easy access, a historical feel and a nieghbourhood that would remind us of the fact that we were in another country and exploring the side areas and not just the "Royal Mile" experience. I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Beverley, service, rooms, food etc. All great! We loved being able to walk to the end of the block, have a pint in the bar and visit with the people who live there. I look forward to another trip to Scotland and Edinburgh and The Beverley

Booked the Beverley due to the good reports on tripadvisor. Easily accessed from both airport and city. on the bus route with regular buses into princes street or get a taxi for approx €5. Judy was helpful and friendly. Our room was beautiful, cosy and practical. We were given a key and could come and go as we pleased without any time limits or such as you get in some b&b's. The house is in a beautiful quiet street with a pub that does great bar food and shops at the end of the street. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Beverley, I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Edinburgh looking for the thrill of the city as well as a relaxing break.

From the first telephone call, to the final goodbye, our experience of the Beverley and Judy's hospitality is memorable for all the right reasons. We discussed our requirements up front - we have a 10 month old son - and selected a room where he would be both comfortable and cause least disruption to other guests.

The breakfast set us up perfectly for a chilly Edinburgh day, was plentiful & tasty, and Sam was given his own high chair so we could all eat together. Judy was very helpful in accommodating our request to leave luggage on the morning we checked out, and in ensuring we had
everything we needed throughout our stay.

The room was very comfortable, with good firm beds and a clean and modern bathroom. The decoration was in very good condition, but also respected the character of the property. All in all, an outstanding hospitality experience in Edinburgh, a good location for accessing Princes Street and all its glories (15 mins brisk walk) and good value
for the money.

Stayed here 2 nights with a friend, and would agree with all the other good reviews. Really nice place all round. Comfy beds, clean rooms, great breakfast, very helpful staff. Excellent location, and in a picturesque quiet, leafy street. Very easy to get around Edinburgh on the bus from there, and also to/from the airport and train stations. Sure would stay there again.
