I stayed at EQ2 with my father and nephew for 1 night on the 10th August as we visited Edinburgh to see the Military Tattoo.
I use Tripadvisor a lot and I spent quite some considerable time looking around for a suitable place to stay before I booked anything. I have also been to Edinburgh 3 times before and the EQ2 apartments were definately the best place I have stayed to date, regardless of price.
I booked a 2 twin bedded apartment but on arrival we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment, (unit 3 which was on the first floor of the block with the main reception in it where the balcony from the lounge area hung nicely out over the canal).
The apartment was very roomy, modern and was fitted with every facility we wanted - especially considering our age range was 15 through 65. Everything worked and all was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast basics were provided although there is a small supermarket about 5 minutes walk away for any further groceries you need.
The walk in to the Royal Mile, Princess street and the Castle were very accessible and it was actually nice to get back out of the busy main area and go for a walk along the canal bank which in itself can be interesting.
I have absolutely no complaints to make about the EQ2 apartments and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone else.
The only word of caution I would make is that when I phoned the reception a few days earlier and mentioned I would be driving and enquired about parking - (there is free secure underground parking on site) - I was advised that their experience is that many main brand sat nav systems may not locate the property as it is so new. This turned out to be the case, though only by a couple of streets away in another part of the wider building complex. A conversation with a couple of local friendly builders soon pointed me in the right direction!
