We stayed at these apartments for a 3 night stay at the end of March, I booked this break for my boyfriends birthday plus this was going to be our first trip away with our 4 month old boy, we flew up from Bristol and was really pleased when we got to the apartment, they had provided a cot and a high chair for us, we had a two bed apartment which was big, clean and very modern, we thought it could only be a few months old so we were surprised that the building was 3 years old. The location is great, there are shops just along the road which include Tesco express, we could walk to most of the attractions including the castle and the main shopping area, Prince St. The staff were more than helpfull, there is a handful of resturants right outside on the canal including Zizi's (Italian) which is handy. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend an apartment instead of a hotel, there are better facilities and we found it more relaxing, we will be aiming to return again in a few years when our little boy is older and would defninatly book this again....enjoy...

The last reviewer (Sammie) has given a very accurate description of the apartments so I wont repeat her comments. We stayed in a similar 2 bedroom setup in February and it was one of the most spacious, modern and clean serviced apartments we have been stayed in. Just a few things to add then -

1) it is located in a fairly rundown part of town and you might not feel the safest whilst walking back from the city in the dark. The quay area in front of the apartments is hardly worth a glance. However it is located in a quiet cul de sac (the west end of Lower Gilmore place is blocked) and you will not hear much road traffic at all at night.
2) For those driving there, the apartments offers underground parking for guests although I believe there is a charge of 6 pounds/day as of March 08
3) The apartments sit south west of the city centre and will take about 20minutes to walk there from the middle of princes street. Manageable of course unless the weather's taken a nasty turn, you're carrying 10kgs of shopping with a 6 yr old sitting on your shoulders after having taken a detour to climb up a hill to get to the castle.
4)There are two blocks immediately adjacent(east) and opposite(northwest) the apartments which have been levelled and I'd imagine that there will be a fair bit of day time noise/dust should constructional work commence there in the future.

In summary, 4.5 star service apartments in a 3 star location

I took my boyfriend here on a surprise weekend away for his birthday, so was quite nervous about how it was going to be. When we got there all those fears went away. We couldnt have asked for a better weekend.

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bed apartment. The apartment was huge and everything you needed was there! It is like a home away from home. Excellent kitchen with all the appliences you need, and they left you with bread, yoghurt, milk, cereal, butter, apple juice and jam every morning. There was molton brown products in both bathrooms, tv's in the bedrooms and living room with cable, dvd player, radio and cd player. There was also an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and wireless internet. It was only a walk away from princess street and haymarket station. The staff were brilliant and only too happy to help with anything you needed.

On the first night we went to Oloroso on George Street which was beautiful. The staff again really friendly and the food excellent, the view from the resturant was extremely nice even though it was dark and wet. On the second night we went to an Indian Resturant near Haymarket called Ignite. It was very compacted but this made it very cosy and again the food was delicious. On the last night we decided to stay in and I made a romantic meal for the two of us in the apartment.

Cant say a bad word about the entire weekend, we will definatly be going again.

We booked the Fountain Court Apartments via Expedia after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. We got 3 nights for the price of 2 and found it excellent value for the facilities.
The location was good, a short walk to all amenities and the city centre. We actually found the walk made us see more of places we may not have done (esp around haymarket) if right in the city centre.
The apartment was great, we only booked a 1 bed but ended up being given a spacious, modern and clean 2 bed apartment. This was cleaned every morning (including bed making which made us feel we were in a hotel) with breakfast also topped up.
Unfortunately I was ill on the last day of our trip (my bf's birthday) so did not feel like going out - we ended up getting a chinese from a local takeaway and watching a movie instead! We had a direct view of the castle from the living room which was lovely lit up at night.
I would recommend these apartments for everybody.

We booked the EQ-2 apartments directly through the Fountain Court website after seeing they had a two nights for the price of one offer. The apartments are located conveniently close to the main A road into Edinburgh and the secure parking provided was a real bonus. The setting next to the quay is lovely and very peaceful. The 1 bedroom apartment was located on the groud floor so no balcony but inside it was really spacious: a full kitchen, bathroom with seperate shower and the comfiest bed we have ever slept in! It really was fantastic accomodation for the price. Complimentary bread, milk, cereal, yoghurts etc are provided and repleinshed daily which was an added bonus, there is also a Sainsbury's local just down the road. Located just five minutes from Grassmarket and 10 minutes from Princes Street the location is ideal. We would definately recommend the Eq-2 apartments to anyone planning to visit Edinburgh.
