We arrived to Edinburgh without having a place to stay... is not a good idea in August since there is the Festival which is very popular. But we were so lucky and find a great place to stay.
What to say: Comfortable rooms, very clean and organize (you will feel like in a 5 star hotel), the breakfast was customize as you want it and was serve in a beautiful dining room, and the owners of this place are wonderful people that will treat you like friends.

We have to say was the best place were we stay in our whole trip to Scotland. We highly recommended.

Forget stuffy B&Bs with sticky carpets and sagging mattresses, this place is so welcoming, comfortable and stylish that we wanted to move in and live there! The owners are Rowena and Tommy Watt, who also live at the Sheridan, so they have decorated the house in contemporary style with art on the walls, and plants and flowers everywhere. Our room had lovely tall windows letting in lots of light, and a large and very comfortable bed with crisp white sheets and a soft duvet (I hate blankets). The sofa turned into a spare bed for our daughter. The small shower room was white tiled and spotless (more art on the walls there too). Rowena cooks a great breakfast so we left the house in the mornings well fed and ready to explore Edinburgh. Our only reservation was that the house is slightly out of the centre, but as it turned out that wasn't a problem because the bus to town stops just across the road and only costs £1.20 for the 10 minute ride into town. We also discovered the lovely Water o' Leith canal which runs nearby, so we enjoyed the 20 minute walk into town that way too. I'd really recommend the Sheridan, and we'll go again ourselves.

The Sheridan Guesthouse is a really wonderful place to stay. Ordinarily I'd prefer to stay closer to the centre, but being bang in the middle of the Fringe we found the Sheridan instead, and it turned out we were very lucky. The owners, Tom and Rowena, were really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Their guesthouse is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and has a very peaceful and calm vibe about it.

In terms of location, no, it's not central but the bus stop is right there and it's close to Leith which has all sorts of restaurants and bars too.

The breakfast is really good, with a decent choice of hot stuff and also cereals and fruits and juices and tea and coffee and toast and you get the idea.

Anyway - it was lovely, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Oh, and I must also say that the front garden is like a beautiful tropical jungle, which is pretty cool - good work, Rowena!

We spent 2 nights at the Sheridan in July. It was not long enough and we definately plan to return. Rowena made us feel very welcome and was an excellent host. She provided us with useful information on the area. Our room was nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable, we were especially impressed with the chioce of breakfasts. The Sheridan is ideally located with the bars and restaruants of Leith within walking distance and Edinbugh a short bus or taxi ride away. We look forward to returning soon.
