We stayed at the Blacket Garden Flat for 4 nights in July 2007.
From the minute we checked (which was at an ungodly hour of 12.30 p.m at night) to the day we left, we have nothing but praise for Isobel and Jas's hospitality. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and we both felt like we were actually staying at a friend's house. The room we stayed in was large, well-decorated and clean and the breakfast we were served was the best that we have had in a long time. In fact, my husband still raves (and dreams) about the breakfast that Isobel made for us every morning.

Edinburgh is a very beautiful city and our visit to this city was made all the more wonderful due to our stay at the Blacket Garden. Blacket Garden itself is located in a very beautiful residential area and all pubs, resuarants and other attractions are a walk away. We sincerely recommend that anyone who visits Edinburgh and wants to stay in a B&B to not look anywhere else.

Our stay was a wonderful experience.
The accomodation is to a very high standard, with lots of extra little touches that were much appreciated (bowls of sweets and fruit, fresh milk and cartons of juice and bottled water in the fridge, a selection of dvds and cds for the room - even a lamp put on for us when we were out till 2am!) .
Breakfast was delicious, freshly made and healthy, with very generous portions.
And finally (the icing on the cake) the hosts were delightful, warm and friendly people, who made us feel very welcome without invading our space or overwhelming us.
I will definitely be back - as will my 2 year old daughter, who also thoroughly enjoyed her stay!

My wife and I spent two nights at Blacket Garden Flat. It was absolutely wonderful. We had travelled from London by train, and were welcomed by Isobel and Jas (who loves Elvis, thank you very much). The breakfasts were good (and plenty of it). We enjoyed walking into the city. A special treat--my wife left some earrings by accident, and Isobel was sweet enough to mail them to us in the states (thank you Isobel!)

We chose this B&B for our 3 night stay in Edinburgh based on the Trip Advisor reviews, and it really lived up to it's reputation. Although I will be quite honest here and say that at GBP75.00, it was the most expensive B&B in the whole of the UK for us by at least GBP15.00, so you would expect it to be good. It's location was really ideal, as it was only a good 25-30 min walk into downtown Edinburgh. The accommodation was really large and very nicely presented and the breakfasts had far more than most, and included a wonderful menu from which to choose, with things like Smoked Salmon and Omelettes which were delicious. Jas & Isobel were great hosts and brought the morning papers into us at the breakfast table each morning. There were other wonderful provisions such as fresh fruit, drinks and chew bars as well as tea and coffee making facilities. This would have got the full 5 Star Rating from us until the day of departure, when unfortunately, in trying to accommodate an American family (2 Adults & 3 Children) at very short notice, Isobel allowed them to be served early for breakfast and as the breakfast room was not large enough for 7 guests, we were forced to wait (and the family were about 1/2 hour late to breakfast) which meant it delayed our departure for our travels further north in Scotland. This really did take the shine off our stay, especially when we had been booked into Blacket Gardens for many months before our arrival, and this family of 5 had just phoned at short notice. Isobel was embarrassed and apologized to us, and although I can appreciate she was trying to please everybody, we believe the wrong decision re breakfast was made, or alternatively, better breakfast room facilities should be available to accommodate the number of guests she is taking in.
Otherwise a worthwhile B&B in a great part of Edinburgh.

We stayed at Blacket Garden Flat for four nights in Edinburgh and had a wonderful experience. The garden was charming and beautifully kept. Jas and isobel were warm and friendly. As there was only one other room in the bed and breakfast, we really did feel as if we were being welcomed into somebody's home. The room was very spacious and decorated with furniture, art, and charming trinkets that looked as if they had been collected from several different places and over many years. Snacks and drinks were provided, in the room, and there were several DVD's and numerous CD's to enjoy while we were relaxing after long days of sightseeing. Breakfast was delicious and there was a nice menu of main courses to choose from, each coming with fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, coffee or tea, and a cereal bar. We also enjoyed chatting with Jas and Isobel and the other guests every morning. Jas would greet us by saying "Good morning, America!" and Isobel would give us helpful advice on transportation and places to visit. We will definitely stay at Blacket Garden next time we travel to Edinburgh!
