We arrived at Blacket Garden Flat on a beautiful October afternoon. We were traveling with another couple and I had made the decision to stay here for our two nights in Edinburgh, so was a bit apprehensive - but no need to be. This home is in a very nice older residential area of Edinburgh and only about 1/2 block from the bus stop. We entered through a very inviting small garden area and were given a warm welcome by Isobel and Jas. Both bedrooms are quite large with extremely comfortable king-sized beds. Our room had a sofa loveseat, a chaise lounge, dresser, wardrobe, desk, small refrigerator with juice, water and milk in it, a welcome tray with coffees, teas, shortbreads, and chocolates, a bowl of fruit, teamaker, hair dryer, TV, cd player with numerous cds, books, towels, washclothes, shampoo, soaps; I cannot think of a thing I needed that wasn't provided by our most thoughtful hosts. The room was warm, welcoming, comfortable and clean and the breakfast was delicious. I couldn't have chosen a place I would rather have stayed.

I have just returned home from a few days in Edinburgh. I wouldn't stay anywhere but Blacket Garden Flat now that I have found it. Isobel and James make you feel so welcome and the accommodation is clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious. Only a few bus stops from The Royal Mile you are staying within distance of everything you could want. In a highly desirable residential area the B and B has all you would expect and more - even fresh fruit in the room. Its the attention to detail that makes it so special. The breakfasts are amazing - I wish I could bring Isobel home with me!

Just returned home and had the pleasure of spending a few nights at this lovely B&B during our visit to Edinburgh. The room was spacious and the large bed was very comfortable. We walked into the city and it is a comfortable walk but the bus stop is nearby. The B&B is on a very nice & quiet residential street and has a beautiful garden area. The room is equipped with everything you could need, mini fridge, tea pot and fruit. Breakfast was superb and a great way to start the day. Isobel sets a very nice table and is an excellent cook. Isobel and Jas are wonderful hosts and we were made to feel very much at home. We will be back.

Tucked away in a quiet, elegant residential neighbourhood. Most welcoming and helpful hosts. Spacious room with all amenities, incl. very comfortable king-size bed. Great breakfast menu. Off-road parking available. Would definitely return; highly recommended !

Lady Isobel and Sir Jimmy personify Scottish hospitality. The Blacket Garden Flat is in a nice quiet neighborhood, a gracious old home with modern conveniences, close walking distance to bus lines only 10 minutes ride to the Royal Mile (we walked the distance several times in about 30 minutes), lots of shops nearby to replenish daily necessities, restaurants close by, easy walk to the Crags area or the University, and an easy walk to Jimmy's golf course. Breakfasts are intimite and delicious, graciously served (but watch out for Isobel's fake softboiled egg...) and evenings relaxing in the garden are divine. Jimmy will even share his favorite wee nip with you if you're kind. The room was perfect, shower works fine and lots of hot water. All in all a wonderful experience that added a great deal to our two weeks in Scotland. When we go back to Edinburgh soon (but not soon enough...) we'll stay in our home away from home at Blacket Garden Flat. Douglas and Barbara.
