Our second stay at Blacket Garden was as good as the first, Jas and Isobel are the perfect hosts, the rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfasts are first class and the little touches make all the difference, bus time tables, visitor information and places to eat are readily available. If you visit Edinburgh you can't go wrong with Jas and Isobel's lovely home, within walking distance of all the major attractions and yet so quiet. It's like visiting old friends, well recommended.

Returned again for yet another stay at Blacket Garden Flat to find it as good as ever.

We were welcomed as old friends and quickly caught up with Isobel and James's latest family news. Freshly redecorated, the rooms and facilities are very well appointed with everything the weary traveller could need.

Breakfasts are becoming legendary in many parts of the world it seems. We met at breakfast a couple who had travelled from Australia and had chosen, on a recommendation, to stay at the Blacket Garden Flat in preference to Edinburgh's Balmoral. They, like us, were not disappointed.

I am still confident in recommending the Blacket Garden Flat to anyone visiting Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city.

A relaxed and homely base to explore Edinburgh.
We travelled from Australia and arrived very tired in Edinburgh. After a good night's sleep in comfortable accommodation followed by one of Isobel's home cooked breakfast we found this to be the ideal venue to explore all of the highlights of the city. The location is only a short walk to the "Royal Mile" and Isobel has all the local knowledge about the sights and bus adventures.

This place is a lovelly cosy B & B. You are really looked after by Isobel and Jez. With there only being two rooms you definately get that personal touch and feel like a relative come for the weekend than a paying guest. The little touches were nice like your bedroom set for bedtime while your out on the town. the sweets and biscuits along with an excellent selection of reading material. I also like the mini-fridge with the fresh milk. The place was spotlessly clean and you can even sit out in the beautifully manicured garden (if the Edinburgh weather permits). The location is also ideal as you're yards from the bus stop (all bus numbers and timetables provided) but in a lovelly quiet back street. We'' definately be back again.

  • Liked — All the little personal touches and the excellent breakfast
  • Disliked — The shower was a little small for my larger frame

We stayed earlier in the year and were able to book again for the Jazz festival and the Tattoo this time we got the smaller room(celestial decor) and a BRILLIANT shower every thing in the room is there for you all you need is toothbrush and clothes breakfast was very generous and takes you through to Dinner and always different muffins /pastries each morning the other guests were cellebrating a Birthday and Isobel put Bubbly in their room a nice touch! We were very well looked after by Jas and Isobel and always on hand to give advice or directions without being intrusive. The Jazz Mardi Gras was brilliant and it was a lovely sunny afternoon and the Tattoo is a must see spectacular so many people but it runs like clockwork a definate must for next year We will definately be back the location is perfect the buses cheap and plentiful and a lovely district and most of all the best hosts Hats of to Jas and Isobel.
