My wife and I recently spent 3 nights in one of the two guest rooms at The Blacket Garden Flat, our stay being part of a two week tour of Scotland. Despite many complimentary reviews the accomodation exceeded our wildest expectations, both in terms of the en-suite room itself but also with regards to the friendliness and kindness of our hosts, Jas and Isobel.
Our en-suite room was incredibably large, almost a studio flat minus the kitchen (although there is a fridge!). It contained many extras including digital TV and DVD player with selction of DVDs, regularly refreshed snack and sweet selections and a spacious lounge area.
Breakfast was exceptional also with a great selection and no shortage of food (something seemingly common to Scotland as a whole) served in a lovely breakfast room brimming with character.
Location of the Blacket Garden Flat is also first class. There are numerous restaurants and shops within a couple of minutes walk whilst the property still resides in a very quiet leafy suburban road. Furthermore, Central Edinburgh such as the Royal Mile is easily walkable, or alternatively, a bus can be caught a couple of minutes away to any of the major attractions.
Finally, as if all of the above is not enough, your hosts, Jas and Isobel, are the nicest couple you could wish to meet. In fact, they are so welcoming it feels like you are leaving part of your family when you do finally depart.
If in Edinburgh we will certainly always look for the Blacket Garden Flat.
