“Good value for money and personable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We arrived much later on the Friday evening for this birthday weekend than planned but this was no problem to the owners who gave us a warm welcome and directed us to a local Italian restaurant for a last minute (and delicious) pizza. Our room was compact but cosy with a good shower and located at the top of the hotel (as we wanted a view). It was a bit of a clamber up two flights of stairs but well worth it with a good view towards Arthur's Seat. The location of the hotel was ideal for us. It was very quiet with reasonable on-street parking but close enough to town to enable us to meander in at leisure whilst sight-seeing on the way. There were good restaurants and bars within 5-10 mins walking distance which allowed us to eat and drink very well locally on both evenings. The breakfasts were good with lots of choice although I was disappointed that I did not get a runny egg with my Eggs Florentine . . . will ask next time!

Room Tip: Having a room on the top floor is well worth the view if you're fit and have limited luggage.

Dear Reviewer

It is really good when people staying with us meander into Town as this Guest did, as we really are just at the edge of Happiness, Free Parking, 30 Bar/Restaurants, Great Bus Service, Golf Course, Swimming Pool and the Wonderful Arthur's Seat Edinburgh's extinct Volcano and all within easy walking distance. I will make sure Dear Guest on your return that your Eggs Florentine shall indeed have a lovely runny Egg Yolk, Oh by the way our Eggs Benedict is also scrummy and yummy..

“Nice small hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

This is a nice and affordable hotel, with very friendly staff, serving a wonderful breakfast, and with convenient buslines into town. Some rooms have really nice views on Arthurs Seat. Watch out for the dogs though... They're so cute when lying on the floor

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for a concise description of Hotel Ceilidh-Donia and our Two Woofies. Annette and I moved into this small quiet residential area of Edinburgh 30 years ago and took Foreign Students into our spare rooms to help ends meet, not knowing that all these years later we would still be enjoying immensely the Hospitality Business, It really is a joy to meet people from all over our Small but ever so Precious Planet Earth.

“Very cosy, very friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

This is a very nice place to stay. The owners immediately give you a warm welcome straight away. The breakfast is excellent, rooms are perfect as is the bathroom. If you are looking for a nice cosy place just a short walk from the city centre, this is the place to be.

“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I spoke with them a lot in advance of arrival and they were very helpful. They offer lots of advice about the local area and can provide maps with recommendations of where to eat and drink. The location is an easy walking distance into Edinburgh centre, though it is well services by buses. It also near Arthur's Seat for those wanting a good walk. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in a fifteen minute walk. The hotel itself was immaculately clean. Breakfasts were very good. There is a lounge area for guests and a bar which is well stocked with a wide range of drinks.

My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon and we are glad that we did We willc ertainly be returning.

“A cosy and friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We spent four nights in this cosy hotel at the end of October. The owners were very friendly and helpful when we arrived, offering practical advice on the area. The hotel was about 25 minutes walk from the centre (there are also buses) and was in a quiet residential area, near to Arthur's Seat, and very peaceful at night. The breakfast was particularly good with a variety of options cooked to order in addition to all the usual fruits, cereals, yogurt, toast etc. I was particularly impressed that they were able to provide me with a gluten free breakfast, despite the fact that I had not been able to request this before arriving. This was very much appreciated. The weather was quite cold while we were there and it was lovely to come back to this hotel after being out all day, because it was comfortable and always lovely and warm. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room were also a welcome bonus. We thought Ceilidh-Donia was good value and enjoyed our stay here, and discovering the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

Dear Reviewer It is great when Guests appreciate the little things in life that Annette and the Staff thoughtfully provide in advance of their arrival, Annette makes sure we can cater for most Dietary needs, we even provided Guests who had Motor Bikes with a long Chain with a secure Padlock.

Historically, Breakfast to a Scot is the most Important meal of the Day with our ever changing weather, it sets you up for the Day, hence our traditional Bacon, Eggs, Sausage, Mushrooms, Haggis, Black Pudding and my favourite a Tattie Scone just nicely Crisped up but we also appreciate that our Guests come from all over this Wee Planet of ours, Mother Earth and offer a wide selection of choices, we now have an all-day Cereal Bar with Tea, Coffee and Cup a Soup FREE all Day and will offer Toast from 10-00 pm - 11-00 pm, and there are other little snacks for sale.

We also appreciate it when Gusts notice that we do not scrimp on the Heating Bills and love it when we see people’s faces smile when they come back to the Cozy Hotel Ceilidh-Donia.
