We stayed in this hotel during a 4 day stay in Edinburgh. The hotel was clean, well stocked, and in close proximity to the city center. Our standard room was fairly spacious and the bathroom was huge by European standards. The staff was courteous and attentive. The front desk staff always helped with directions with a smile.

Breakfast was good and served from 0600-1030. It had a lot of variety including fresh fruit.

The hotel was in a walking distance to numerous pubs, restaurants, and taxi station. Taxis are very reasonable in this city. We dined at a small Italian restaurant just down the street called “Trelli”. I was so good we went back the next night!

All and all we were satisfied and would stay again. It is a good location, nice staff, and adequate food service. Also Sherlock Holmes’s statue greets you at the street.

The Holiday Inn Express Picardy Place Edinburgh.

Its right opposite the Omni Centre, St James Shopping Centre and the Playhouse Theatre, 5 min walk to Princes Street and 10 mins to the Royal Mile so the best location for a city centre break!

Hotel is smart and spotlessly clean, rooms spacious, friendly helpful reception staff, car park with limited spaces for £5 a night, secure place to leave luggage. Hotel bar is nice with big screens showing sky sports. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. We got hotel for £89 non refundable by booking online, much cheaper than drop in rate so would advise this.

Only downside to this hotel was noise, late revellers going to rooms through the night so a lot of noise in the corridors. Apart from this excellent!

49 quid for a room for two adults and two children including con breakfast. Clean modern hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. Good selection at breakfast. Walk in rate £199.00 so def book in advance. I love the holiday inn express brand for good quality hotel rooms at great value prices.

Three of us stayed two nights in a room with a double bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was made out when we got there and was comfortable. It made the room a tad bit tight, but it was tolerable. There are plenty of places to eat nearby including the Omni Center and several pubs. There were lots of people in the area going to the playhouse and nearby clubs, but that actually made me feel safer when walking around at night. We used Priority Club points to pay for the hotel (the Holiday Inn traveler program). We didn't have enough points to cover the entire stay, so we purchased some to make up the difference which was still more economical than paying cash for the entire stay. We opted to take the bus from the airport (to the Waverly Street Bridge) and were pleasantly surprised to learn that it operated every 10 minutes - even on Easter! That allowed us to travel roundtrip to/from the airport for 5 pounds each. The hotel lacks some charm, but it is comfortable & convenient with breakfast included!
