This apartment is wonderful with a 'commanding view'! My family (3 of us) stayed here for 4 nights in July 08. The owners, Moira and her husband, could not have been more accomodating! The living room was comfy with a nice TV and DVD with some DVD's, books, tour guides etc. The two bedrooms, also, faced the castle and were very comfortable. The bath was quite large and the kitchen had all the basics one would need. You could not be any closer to the castle or Royal Mile. There were lots of restaurants and pubs that were walkable from the flat. Our only complaint was the car parking. We had a rental car that could only be parked on the street at a certain time of day. If we did this over again, we'd return the rental car, as it is not needed. Most places are walkable and there are plenty of buses and cabs available. Staying in a flat like this makes you feel like you are a local. We absolutely loved it!

Not only does the historical apartment have the most magical view of Edinburgh Castle, (so close you don’t want to roll out of bed too quickly or you’ll be in the grounds!), but the owners are also the friendliest most helpful people you will meet in Scotland. Thank you Moira and Eric for giving us such a warm welcome and for making our stay so wonderful.

Moira was at the kerb waiting to greet us as we drew up in a taxi, showed us into a sparklingly clean 2 bedroom/kitchen/bathroom with bath and shower apartment on the 2nd floor (steps only), pointed out the welcome basket in the kitchen (coffee, tea, cheese, oatcakes, bread, jam and yummy shortbread), pointed out the tourist info via books and DVD, and asked us if there was anything we needed further. When she found out that our daughter’s suitcase had disappeared en route from the US leaving her with nothing but a T-shirt and jeans in rainy Edinburgh Moira immediately took her own coat off and insisted she use if for the duration of our stay. She later phoned to see if there was anything else she could offer in the way of clothing. This is a classic example of how Moira looks after her guests.

Moira insisted on taking our details and spent the next 2 days tracking down our lost luggage, calling United, plus the carrier for United in Edinburgh. Eric her husband stayed in all day at their address until it was delivered at 9.30pm , giving us time to enjoy our holiday in Edinburgh regardless of United’s unprofessional behaviour. You wouldn’t receive this type of service in a 5 star hotel. We were amazed and totally blown away by Moira and Eric’s assistance and genuine regard for us as their guests.

The apartment itself is comfortably equipped with everything you could want, from an umbrella to hairdryer, full bath and shower to comfy bedding, whisky glasses to teapot. It is also easy walking distance to everything in central Edinburgh, and close to great restaurants and cafes. We found ourselves gravitating towards the windows at night mesmerized by the Castle all beautifully lit up. Take a guided tour of the castle before you explore it on your own, our guide was hilarious but very informative and brought the castle to life.

Moira and Eric’s apartment has the best reviews and ratings for Edinburgh, believe them, they are 100% true.

Our stay in Edinburgh was absolutely fantastic, in no small part due to Moira and Eric - the most amazing hosts. They did everything you might expect and so much more, from dropping everything to drive across town to let us in when we turned up early, to allowing us to park our car at their house at no charge and ferrying us back and forward to the apartment.

The greeting basket was very generous and it is a nice touch to allow the contents to be changed to suit individual tastes.

The apartment was exactly what we needed for our stay and accommodated 4 adults very well. Location, right next to the castle and a short walk to everything else was perfect.

Moira was extremely helpful regarding directions,tourist info. etc. The basket of supplies that greeted us was a great touch.We Can highly recommend "The Apartment". (and the view.....well, you will just have to see for your self)
