“Best B&B in UK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Best B&B in the UK by a long shot........ and we have stayed in many. Thanks Gail and Alec for your wonderful hospitality, superb accommodation and scrumptious breakfast. Rob (our son) says better than any five star hotel we have stayed in. We really enjoyed our short time with you, loved the open vistas and countryside setting so close to Edinburgh. Our only regret is we didn't have time to stay for longer.

I was looking for somewhere to stay after a long and arduous days meeting and the thought of a large hotel, with miles of corridors and queues for checking out did not appeal to me. I found this B&B by chance on the internet and what a find!
Lovely room which would put most major hotels to shame, great hospitality, where nothing was too much trouble and a wonderful quiet night offering a terrific night’s sleep. As I have found on other occasions, staying at a B&B is a far more satisfying experience than a night in a “plastic” hotel chain.
If your on business near Edinburgh, then I thoroughly recommend trying this gem.

This jewel is in a lovely country setting, quiet yet close to the Airport and the city. Our room was large with a double bed and a single as well - beautiful dining nook, kitchenette and large ensuite bathroom. Complimentary WIFI - very much appreciated. Gail and Alex were incredibly helpful and gracious. We arrived back early for our last evening - they turned the heat on early for us so we were toasty warm. As we were leaving early at 7:00am, Gail would not hear of us leaving without something to eat. She got up at 6:00am to make a tray and brought it to our room at 6:30. Fresh fruit salad and croissants - so appreciated! Will definitely stay again when next we visit! Thank you!!!

I'm always a bit wary when I book B&Bs as you never quite know what you're going to get. After spending weeks researching places to stay in Edinburgh and trying to find somewhere suitable AND reasonable AND with vacancies, I was advised to check the Scottish Accommodation Index. Kellerstain Stables doesn't have a website so it's a bit of a hidden gem at the moment. I looked at the reviews on the SAI & they were all good so booked and am thrilled we did. Alex & Gail made us feel very welcome in their home from the start and the room was incredible. It had a double bed & single, a big en suite bathroom and a small kitchenette (which I never would've expected). They were incredibly easy going and friendly. If you are visiting Edinburgh with a car I would definitely recommend it. The park and ride at Hermiston is less than 5 minutes away and is really easy (just make sure you have correct change!) It's about 10/15 minutes drive to Edinburgh and is in a lovely rural location. I imagine it won't be kept secret for much longer but I will definitely book again if we are ever up that way! Thank you both :) From Lucy and Joe

This beautiful, new B&B will soon be a tough to book accommodation as it was, hands down, the best B&B we stayed in for our entire trip!!! The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Bright and airy. Stunning views. Great breakfast. A hop, skip and a jump to the Park n' Ride (free parking) and the bus took us straight to the heart of Edinburgh, a block from the Royal Mile.

We will be back, and will use this as a base for a longer stay.

We spent a total of four nights here. We found it to be an Ideal location for us. Close to the airport and a bus ride to the city centre, yet in a quiet rural setting. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. Alec and Gail were great hosts.

The location made access to attractions in the city of Edinburgh (like Edinburgh Castle) quite easy, yet we had convenient access to the attractions outside of the city (like Melrose Abbey).

Our time in Edinburgh was truly enhanced by our stay at Kellerstain. We would highly recommend this B&B and Alec and Gail to any who plan to visit the Edinburgh area.

wow what a gorgeous place to stay, we felt at home straight away, our room was fantastic, it was so roomy and big and the beds were so comfortable. The children loved the shower with all the different jets. The room was so clean and it was great to have the kitchen area with a microwave and fridge. We had breakfast in the conservatory was really tasty and there was plenty of choice. Gail and Alec were so lovely and welcoming and were so helpful with postcodes for places to eat etc. We would highly recommend this boutique bed and breakfast. Really lovely location with lovely views and so quiet. We would like to thank you for a wonderful stay, you truly have a lovely home. From Sarah Andy Bradley and Lucy McLaughlin
