“Staff great but breakfast poor value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Breakfast was poor. Selection is limited and expediency and accuracy in order was limited. Had a heating problem in the room - not resolved adequately. Staff response at check out was great but a bit late.

The hotel was perfectly located in the City Center. Easy walk to all the major sites. Hotel staff friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and quiet. Had a great view of Edinburgh castle! Trendy, comfortable bar for drinks.

We stayed for a couple of nights for a pre christmas weekend in Edinburgh. I had been a little concerned when booking that the location may be a little out of the way, but it is literally a few minutes walk to Princes Street and easy access to the Castle and Royal Mile. Overall, the location was excellent.

We were on the 4th floor in a Castle View room, which was very nice. My wife had a couple of comments about the layout of the room (lack of storage for example), but they were all quite minor things.

Breakfast was very good and the staff were all very helpful. The bar was good and the staff there were friendly.

I'd certainly stay again next time we're in Edinburgh.

I enjoyed the breakfast (although I went out for coffee at other coffee shops nearby). Good variety and delicious. The in room service was excellent and food was warm and good. Fluffy pillows and duvet. Had a good rest except for street noise (very busy this time of year so people were out all hours of the night, and very loud about it!) - Room 308 Extremely helpful staff

We spent one night at this hotel which was used as a base to meet up with my family. A very pleasant stay and the staff made it special for our two year old daughter. The room, although a touch on the small side (especially when you have a cot), was adequate for our needs. The breakfast was superb with a huge choice on offer and the meal at night was very reasonable. The only downside we're the lifts. They are extremely slow, and being from an engineering services background, it was evident that they are undersized, I.e you can't really accommodate many people when you have a pushchair, plus the lift controls could do with a review.
The hotel location is great and the dedicated off site car park is not too far.
Would definitely recommend a stay if you are visiting this wonderful city and we hope to return next year.

Stayed for a short weekend and I will admit that this hotel is very well located. It is only a 5-10 minute walk up the hill to the castle and about the same to Princes Street if you fancy a bit of retail therapy. The staff were helpful and friendly and the downstairs car was a great place to wait for the rest of the group and have some cocktails before heading out to dinner.

There were a few downsides to the hotel, the first being that the hotel room was very very cold, the bathroom floor was unbearable first thing in the morning or during the night. The bed was very soft and it proved difficult to turn over during the night without waking up the other person, if you are a light sleeper I would suggest a twin room.

Friends in our group opted for the Castle view rooms - they were upset to find out that the lovely lights illuminating the castle are turned off at about 10-11pm, I do not think they thought that this was worth the extra money.

I would not hesitate to stay here again but I will be booking a twin room and some slippers.

Room Tip: Opt for the back of the hotel - there is still some noise at night but it does not face the main roa...

This is pretty much a standard Doubletree hotel. Although in an excellent city centre location there is nothing that really makes it stand out. Having said that, our two night stay in a castle view room was fine. Although somewhat small (not unusual in a city-centre property) the room was more than adequate for our purposes and we were not bothered by any noise. Staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast was OK.
