Have just spent the weekend at this faultless guesthouse. When we arrived Tony & Dawn made us very welcome and immediately gave us a map and gave plenty of information. Everything was spotless and tastefully decorated. We stayed in room 4 which has the four posterbed. The room was large, with 3 seater sofa, fireplace, plasma tv, plenty of storage and the bathroom was very clean and had little extras. There was plenty of information in the room.
I thought things couldn't get better until it came to breakfast. The breakfast room was beautiful with lovely soft music playing in the background. There is plenty to choose from including a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juices and yogurts. Cooked breakfast is made to order and was fantastic, definately sets you up for the day. Excellant service. I loved our stay and would not hesitate in returning. Tony & Dawn must work very very hard to maintain such high standards and it shows.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, food and the highstandards.
  • Disliked — NOTHING .

Tony and Dawn-Ann are gracious hosts and the rooms for our 3 night stay were nicely decorated and comfortable. Easy bus ride to Edinburgh (Old Town) and our hosts are very knowledgeable and helpful. Be sure to ask about the Highland cows down the road. We would definitely stay here again.

My fiance and I visited the AmarAgua Guest House in May 2008 for three lovely nights. Our room was absolutely beautiful and clean, and spacious! Dawn and Tony were an absolute delight, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were so knowledgable about the city, how to get around and where to eat. The breakfast was excellent and had lots of variety.

When my (now) finance proposed they even helped us find a beautiful restaurant to celebrate!

We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning soon!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during our 17-day tour of Britain. One of our big regrets of the trip was that we didn't dedicate more time for Scotland, but we did not regret staying at this B&B when we were in Edinburgh.

I was lucky on the parking as I found a spot right outside the front door. We were given bus and restaurant tips upon our arrival and so were able to explore the city on our own right off the bat.

The hosts were friendly to us despite the fact that I forgot to inform them of our time of arrival and my wife committed a faux-pas related to the use of a coaster in the common room.

I was sick and didn't feel like eating much, but my wife thought the breakfast was superb. I can at least say that my poached egg was cooked to perfection -not the easiest thing to do.

The room and private bath were wonderful and I don't recall that anything was lacking. The B&B is in a great location off Dalkeith Road south of the city center. In my opinion, it's a good value for a large European city like Edinburgh.

  • Liked — Nice rooms.
  • Disliked — Slightly formal atmospehere.

We were very pleased with our stay at this guest house. The hosts were very helpful and charming. Rooms were reasonable sized and very clean. Our room was equipped with an ensuite bathroom including shower, sink, and toilet. Breakfast was to order and options included traditional Scottish delicacies. Our only complaints was the lack of available parking and the long climb up steps with heavy luggage. :)
