I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience has been. We haven't left yet, check out today and tears may follow! From booking online (from Australia) to asking to borrow umbrellas when we were here Mark, Ali and the others in the team have just been perfect! We stayed 3 nights in the penthouse apartment (8/1). I would walk up the 4 flights of stairs another one hundred times or more to stay again in this beautiful apartment, luxurious bed and fabulous bathroom. To make our first wedding anniversary even more special, I had requested the romance package which included champagne on arrival, candles lit in the bathroom, a beautiful smoked salmon breakfast, canapés and wine and a turn down service with rose petals and candles when we were out one night. My husband just loved it, such special attention and touches added by this team. Even willing to change the turn down one night when we were back too early because I had confused timings! So it was done the following night instead. We had sunshine for our three days and so the 25minute walk to the castle and the royal mile was just lovely. Its only 10-15 mins to Princes Street too. Please visit here - you will not be disappointed. We will be back if I get my way!!!

This residence has very very large appartments, well equipped, beautifully decorated and excellent wifi connections. Breakfast is only served in the apartments and of great quality. For a city hotel, the space it offers and the quality, I feel the rooms are underpriced and worth every penny!
Make sure to book parking space in advance, just in front of the door you can park as well, but traffic wardens are frequently around to check for paid parking (as we found out unfortunately twice...).
The city heart is within easy reach, just a nice walk of about 10-15 minutes.
If you have difficulty climbing the stairs make sure you ask for rooms on the ground or 1st floor, there is no elevator.

we stayed there for 2 seperate periods, with a rabbies 3 days tour in between.

the first stay is excellent. great apartment, and very clean, but the shower is lacking a bit of power.
I would give my first stay for 5 stars

the 2nd stay is less good. They say they will put the luggage we stored during our period away in our room by the time we check in, but we didn't get the luggage when we enter the room. after a phone call, everything was sorted though. great customer service.
however, the 2nd apartment we stayed in has paints falling off behind the door, quite a large area too.
the heater also turns on and off after an hour or so, and you need to change the setting to make it heat again. Doesn't bother us much though,
and also, we found a small dead spider on the duvet cover.

Also, both doesn't have a weight scale, which we kind of expected to be in a top notch serviced apartment.

Met on arrival, at the graceful Georgian Terrace by Ali, in his kilt and sporting a smile that never seemed to leave his face for the next 5 days
check-in was easy and we were given a tour of our stunning suite by Katie ( another very pleasant individual). We had a huge living room, high ceilings, picture windows, great view and furnished to a very high standard. Fully equipped galley kitchen, ok bathroom and lovely quiet bedroom, with a king size bed.
we both fell in love with the Chester Residence from arrival and still felt the same way after 5 nights ( this is high praise from us and seldom happens). All staff from reception to cleaners are friendly, helpful and downright "nice". Location is only a 10-15 minute stroll to Princess St and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops even closer.
In my opinion if you aren't happy in the Chester Residence then you should probably not travel anywhere and just stay at home. this has become our home from home in Edinburgh and is very highly recommended

Room Tip: we only saw our room , on the 1st floor ( 2nd if reading this in USA) in building 8 and it was fanta...

The New Town is quiet and full if green spaces and Georgian architecture. But it is a comfortable and level walk to Princes St and the Royal Mile. Very large rooms plenty of natural light but bring a booklight for reading in bed. Well appointed, excellent bed, thick towels and robes. Very clean rooms and amazingly helpful staff. Kitchen area is sufficiently fitted out for a cooked meal, drinks, dishwasher. Really the way to go if you are staying for some time as it is the best combination of hotel service and a spacious apartment. Just great!

Room Tip: Once you. choose the size they are all the same.

My husband and I spent one night at the Chester Residence - apartment 9/2 while on a weekend break to Edinburgh. From the moment we arrived to having left only a short time ago, the service we received was second to none. The apartment was exceptionally appointed with everything and more that you could possibly need or want. The staff were fantastic; attentive without being overbearing and each one of them very friendly and helpful.
My husband had arranged a little romantic extra and after a lovely evening in the city I returned to rose petals and candles. It was a great touch.
We cannot recommend the Chester Residence highly enough and look forward to our return in the very near future.

We are just back for a 2 night stay at The Chester Residence to celebrate a special birthday for my wife, we had booked a 1 bed apartment with the birthday package as a extra. This consists of balloons, a happy birthday banner, birthday card from staff, a very tasty birthday cake, £20 drinks voucher to the bar, a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne & a fantastic champagne breakfast on the special day. This deal I highly recommend!
Our apartment was on the top floor of number 8, not having a lift would be a negative point with it been on the 4th floor. The apartment was amazing, really well done out and spacious, with a fully kitted out kitchen.
They do a full drinks service with a really good menu choice, this we used and only took 5 to 10 minutes after phoning reception. The staff in general were outstanding.
They also deliver a good choice of continental breakfast to your apartment, cereals, croissants etc..
Price wise I thought the apartment was very reasonable at £175 a night, with the birthday package been £115.
Other than been on the top floor with no lift, the only other thing not quite perfect was that there didn't seem to be able to change the sky box without having it's hidden unit door open, quite challenging as it's behind you when your sitting on the sofa. We mentioned this on check out, so it should be rectified.
All in all, I think The Chester more than lived up to it's no 1 placing on here!
