We stayed there three nights in October 2005. We have two small kids (age 9 and 7) and they loved it. The place was clean and well-appointed. The kitchen was great, and there is a Tesco grocery store just 5 minutes away, so grabbing some groceries and using the microwave or the oven makes for cheap, quick meals, especially for families with small kids that may not have 'Scottish appetites.'

The bedrooms were good-sized, and the beds were comfortable. Our inward-facing apartment was very quiet, though I don't think we had any neighbors above or beside us when we were there.

The price was comparatively good, too. The only thing that I was a bit surprised or unclear about was that we did not have any maid service the three days/nights that we were there. Again, not a big problem, but I'm not quite sure what their policy is regarding that.

Location-wise, it's near some pretty major roads, so catching a bus to Princess Street or the Royal Mile is a cinch.

The front desk staff was very helpful, giving us some tips to get around town and also to help point us in the right direction as we headed out into the country with a rental car.

All in all, a very good choice for us and I recommend you give it a try, especially if you are a traveling family.

By far the best lodging we had for the two weeks we were abroad. The apartment had a living room, spacious bathroom with a huge bathtub, a bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen. It also had a washing machine and trouser press. The hotel wasn’t very far from the city center and it was always easy to find a cab nearby. Across the road was a gas station and a block up was a Tesco...and right around the corner was a fabulous bakery with very good scones. We were there for 3 days and the only complaint I could possibly think of would be the lack of clean towels. There was an extra charge per day if you wanted clean towels and room cleaning. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to point us in the direction of good restaurants and a quick way to get to Rosslyn Chapel. After reading a review about the apartments and lack of staff for check-in times, I emailed them a week before we were to arrive to make sure we didn’t have to be there at a certain time. Their desk hours are from 8am-8pm. You get two keys, one for the main building door and the other for your room door. We were in and out all day long and the staff was there during their normal business hours. I would most definitely stay there again when I return to Edinburgh.

My family and I recently booked a two night stay at the Canon Court Apartments through Expedia. I cannot, however, make any comments about the quality of the room since we never saw it.

We (5 of us) were dropped off at the door by our taxi at approx. 3:30pm where we were greeted by a locked door with a note taped to it indicating that we were too late for regular check in and to call the number provided on the note so that someone could be sent there to check us in. This was at 3:30 in the afternoon!! We called the number which I believe was someone's cellphone and only got voicemail. We left numerous messages and waited there with all of our luggage for almost 2 hours.

Finally, we gave up and contacted Expedia to try to make other arrangements. Thankfully, I had printed the confirmation and had it with me. Nowhere on the confirmation did it indicate that we were to check in by a particular time. Expedia was able to find another apartment for us (see my review of the Knight Residence) and agreed to match the price since I argued that it was their error in not warning us about the check in restrictions.

I'm sure the other reviews are correct but my advice is to contact Canon Court directly when booking and make sure someone will actually be there when you arrive to check in. The desk clerk at the Knight Residence (where check-in is available, I believe, until 11pm) told us this is a frequent occurrence with Canon Court.

We rented a 2-bedroom apartment here for the 2nd week of August.

We were traveling with another couple to attend a wedding, and these accomdations were great.

We were happy with our decision. The location is not center-town; however, it was not bad at all. The bus stops right outside the front entrance and is super easy & cheep to take. If you wanted to walk it was a 15 minute walk up-hill, which was a killer, but not that bad.

The staff was great and we have not 1-bad thing to say about the property.

Also, the laundry across the street was great, we dropped off some stuff and it cost 5pds. to wash and pick up in the same day. It helped, as before arriving to Edinburgh, we had been traveling for 6 days already -- so it was a great convience.

The Indian restaurant around the corner was yummy!!!

We spent 3 nights at the apartments and found them very well equipped, (kitchen, tv, vid & dvd etc.,). Staff were very friendly and helpful. We even got an upgrade from a 1 bed to a 2 bedroom apartment. The location is a little way out of town, but was only a quick 10/15 min walk to the centre of the city (good exercise anyway!) ... could always catch the local bus (stop right outside the apartments). There was a local supermarket just around the corner for supplies to self-cook in the very well fitted out kitchen.
All in all, we had a great holiday in these very clean units and would thorough recommend them.
