We had a three night stay here and believe me this place is not for the faint hearted looks good on the outside cheap and nasty on the inside. ladies showers disgusting smelt terrible dorms were dirty and you can hear everything going on throughout the night. couldnt have a conversation in the dorms were told to shut up . staff are friendly while you book in after that you're on your own no help what so ever ,would recommend saving your money and staying somewhere else.long term stayers seem to rule the roost here I could honestly say this place ruined scotland for us

Stayed in a private twin room, which had bunk beds. The beds were very unstable so when I got up on the top bunk I swayed from side to side and my friend thought the bed was going to collapse onto her.
The room was very small indeed, but for £25 a night at the height of the fringe festival it was simply somewhere to sleep. The bathroom was shared and there was a decent shower, but we never used it because the towels we were given smelled terrible, very musty and stale.
Very noisy - whenever anyone so much as walked down the corridor outside our room, our door rattled.
Did not use the kettle and cups in the room as they were dirty and we never had time to use the kitchen so cannon comment.
We were able to come and go without any problems.
Not very close to the centre - a good walk from ameneties. Wouldn't stay there again.

  • Liked — Cheapest available during the fringe festival
  • Disliked — Musty towels, noisy rooms and wobly bunk beds

Booked through hostelworld.. gorgeous building, friendly staff, only thing was i'm glad i wasn't on my own as it didn't feel that safe walking back at night. Also quite noisy as rooms are only partition walls, but you always get noisy hostels! You can buy breakfast there, or bring your own. Great as the staff both strip and make the bed for all the new guests saying.

Booked on hostelworld.com, Good Hostel but very basic accomodation. Price was decent and you can come and go as you please. We stayed for 1 night only, rooms are separated by dividers only as it is a converted church, so you can hear everyone talking or snoring or changing. We had a good time. Bathrooms were clean and the people at the front desk were very helpful with maps and tips and travel information. Also, we booked a 6 bed mixed dorm but did not know that we would all be separated into pairs, all pairs slept in different rooms with other travelers. Was not too bad though.

This was a lovely hostel. The private rooms were great value- lovely furnishings, lots of space, comfy bed. The shower rooms were great too- big and great shower! Id imagine the dorms arent quite as nice with all the dividors and stuff. The place is quite near the centre of town and we found it a great comfy base during the festival.
