Perhaps I am spoilt by hotels in Asia but I was not so impressed with the Apex International Hotel, mainly by paying £100 per night for their "City" room which was extremely small.
The room contained a small 'queen' size bed, a radiator, no air conditioning, and a window that opened slightly onto a car park. An old CRT TV with 5 channels, a small desk and a very small bathroom with a shower in the bath and a small sink.
Wifi was included in the rate however with a reasonable speed.
Service was adequate for breakfast although the room was too small for the number of people and we waited to be served both days. However soya milk was available, as was a vegetarian breakfast and the coffee was not bad, considering.
The hotel was obviously designed before they thought of people with wheelchairs, as the main entrance has two flights of stairs between it, and the reception desk.
However the location is extremely good, apart from the lack of buses from the Grassmarket to the centre of town, but it is a short walk up to George IV Bridge or the stairs to the castle.
