My friend and I stayed with Gerald for 3 nights towards the end of July. His hospitality and the comfort of his bed and breakfast made my stay in Edinburgh very memorable. We had a twin room (2 beds) with tempurpedic pillows, awesome mattresses, warm down blankets, tea service, TV, hair-dryer (so I didn't need my own converter) and best of all, Gerald. This is his home. A beautiful basement apartment in a regal Georgian style building. It is 3 hilly blocks away from Waverly Station, but still only about 5 minutes away. Waverly Station is where you would take all the city-sightseeing buses so it is very convenient. The home itself has a lot of stairs, so it might not be good for those unable to ambulate well. His hot and sumptuous breakfast is catered according to your wishes and substantial enough that only a light snack is needed during your daytime touring. Take every single advice this man offers you! Dinner recommendations were fabulous. My best meal during my 9-night trip to the UK was at a restaurant he recommended--Fisher's on Thistle Street. Got to have the fish soup and seafood salad. Here's a picture of Gerald ironing your sheets.
