My husband and I recently spent a week at Geraldsplace. We chose the b&b based upon the many favorable reviews on tripadvisor. I must say they are all true. Even before you arrive, Gerald's helpfulness begins. He will send you pages of information to aid in planning your trip. Upon arriving, you are made to feel like a welcome houseguest, rather than a client. The room was spotless and had an extremely comfortable bed. There is a minifridge in the room and the bathroom is well-stocked with toiletries. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room, as well as shortbread biscuits which are replenished daily.
Every morning, Gerald prepared a breakfast that kept us going until dinnertime. There is cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and an assortment of juices to begin with. After this, Gerald will serve you a delicious cooked breakfast , including eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, tomatoes and mushrooms. Our mornings were spent eating breakfast while chatting with Gerald and our fellow guests.
Geraldsplace is located in an ideal location. The area is lovely and quiet, but within walking distance of so many destinations. We were able to walk to the Castle and the rest of the Royal Mile, as well as the Botanical gardens. On the days we scheduled tours with Rabbies and Timberbush tours, we were able to walk to their offices. We also walked to the Waverly Station the day we traveled to Stirling.
There are many reasons to stay at Geraldsplace, but the greatest is Gerald himself. He is warm and humorous. Gerald is always available, but never intrusive. When we left, we felt we were leaving a friend. If we return to Edinburgh, Geraldsplace will definitely be our destination.
