I searched all over Edinburgh for the perfect B&B for me and found it at Geralds Place. Perfect location with antique shops right around the corner and a lovely bakery. Beautiful accomodations. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Gerlad's entire home is decorated with prints and paintings and is spotless. Excellent Breakfast. Gerald will personally prepare a lovely scottish breakfast for you. And he is a delightful person. I couldn't ask for anything more and I would go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I found Gerald Dellaporta's B&B on the web, and the pictures and description looked delightful. Upon our arrival after a long plane trip from Canada, train trip from Glasgow, and short walk from Waverley Station, we were not disappointed. Our room was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated, and above all, quiet. Edinburgh is a city made for walkers and Gerald's is central to everything (sights, amenities, etc). Well-situated near such highlights as Edinburgh Castle, Prince's Street, the Portrait Gallery etc., we made it our headquarters.

The best thing about Gerald's is Gerald himself. He is a very gentle, very hospitable soul who takes great pleasure in assisting people to enjoy the beauty and culture of Edinburgh. A very refined individual with a lovely sense of humour, Gerald (if you don't object) will join you in the great breakfasts that he prepares for you, and contribute to the conversation and your understanding of all things Scottish.

When we left after four nights, we were generally sad to say goodbye to our host, but his warmth and kindness had set the stage for a wonderful visit to Scotland. I would invite you to see for yourself however, as wwe don't think you will be disappointed.

Our daughter lives in Edinburgh and was getting married at the Assembly Rooms. Geraldsplace is 1 1/2 blocks from the venue and was highly rated on Trip Advisor so we booked it for 5 nights. It was everything we could have wanted: we had a private room with bath en suite. We had a key to the front door and could come and go as we pleased. Breakfast featured wonderful smoked salmon and fantastic porrage. Even more, it featured Gerald's company. Gerald was both personalble and knowledgable about Edinburgh and the surrounding communities. We enjoyed our mornings with Gerald and then went out and about our business related to the wedding. We had one day of sightseeing and Gerald helped us decide where to go. We had an early morning flight and Gerald arranged for us to have breakfast at 5am without hesitation. The only complaint we had is that Gerald does not accept credit cards and we had to go to an ATM several times to get enough cash! We plan on staying with Gerald again.

A delightful, first-rate experience in every way: superb location within walking distance to everything; clean, cozy room with very comfortable bed and lovely fresh flowers; delicious breakfast including personal requests; access to e-mail; and, the most congenial and helpful host imaginable. Gerald joined us for breakfast and shared his wit, his warmth, and his insightful suggestions with us. Over all, unbeatable value for both the material benefits as well as Gerald's generous presence. I could not recommend Geraldsplace more highly.

My wife and I stayed at Geraldsplace early this month and we both loved this B&B! Gerald is an excellent host, truly welcoming us into his home. The room has excellent amenities, including a fridge, TV with a VCR, access to lots of movies, coffee, tea, and yummy Walkers shortbread cookies! Having your own private bathroom is very nice and the shower was nice and hot! The breakfast was awesome and the organic granola, yogurt, and fruit were a great touch. The B&B itself is great because you truly feel like you are in a home away from home. Geraldsplace is in a perfect location, it is a seven minute walk from the train station. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and shopping within a five minute walk from the B&B. Gerald is a great host and is very knowledgeable about the city and the trains, including the times to and from various locations in the UK. He was there to greet us when we arrived and even let us keep our bags at his place while we toured Edinburgh after we had officially checked out! Geraldsplace is a great value and you really do get what you pay for! I highly recommend Geraldsplace and we look forward to our next visit to Edinburgh with Gerald!
