Gerald's Place is without doubt one of the most delightful places I have ever stayed at. It is a beautifully appointed establishment, with the bedroom roomy and comfortable - I loved the decor (colour is very important to me) but thoroughly appreciated all of the other features and particularly liked the intriguing art work which adorns every room. There is a strong sense of old-world charm, but of modern amenity which welcomes, soothes and satisfies ones need for a haven when one has been travelling for many weeks and over long distance
(China, Australia, etc), Breakfast offered many choices from cereals to cooked food. The range of fresh friut juices was especially appreciated.

Gerald himself is a host extraordinaire! Exceptionally sociable and always knowledeable - not just about Edinburgh - as well as extremely helpful and very kind, he is one in a million.

I would recommend Gerald's place to anyone who wants a place to relax and enjoy Edinburgh. Its proximity to the city centre makes it an outstanding accommodation option.

My husband and I booked a long weekend in April 06 at 'Gerald's Place' and we highly recommend it.

On checking in at GP's, the place immediately felt 'like home'. Gerald was there to greet us on the doorstep of his wonderful house. Later on, after we had settled in, Gerald gave us some very useful information about Edinburgh - as it was our first ever visit to the city. We appreciated his local knowledge and he gave us some useful tips on places of note.

Our room was very comfortable and spacious with very good wardrobe space. The on-suite power-shower was a definite bonus - especially after a day spent walking around the city!!

Gerald's breakasts were suberb! Expect to come away from your stay - having gained a few extra pounds !! I KNOW THAT I DID !! Another enjoyable aspect of breakfast-time was Gerald himself - expect to be entertained by his wit and charm !!

We definitely came away with some very good memories of our weekend.

Very much a "home from home". We'd definetly stay at Gerald's Place again.

Gerald's Place is a must for travelers to Edinburgh - in no small part due to the wonderful man himself. From the warm and easy welcome we received by the truly lovely Justyn, to the caring, and very much appreciated, send off from Uncle Gerald, we felt well embraced by the service, appointments and accommodations of Gerald's Place.

The New Town location made exploring the city fantastically easy - I got a great haircut, bought a comfortable shirt, and ate several sumptuous meals all within five blocks of the B&B!

On top of all that, the room was always clean, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious and the shower had excellent water pressure. Oh, and I almost forgot the free wireless Internet access.

We will be traveling back to Edinburgh - even if it's just to stay at Gerald's Place.

Based on the many glowing Trip Advisor review, my husband and I stayed at Geraldsplace for three nights earlier this month during our second trip to Edinburgh (first time at Gerald’s). We’ve now joined the cheering section. This B&B earns its high marks for location, comfort, food, and for the obvious thought and care Gerald gives to the details that make life easier and more enriching for a traveler.

The location is perfect – in the heart of the New Town, but without the bustle of being on a major road. You walk down to the basement level, through a tiny courtyard alive with flowers, to enter; despite the lower level location, Geraldsplace is bright and welcoming. The irregularity of the elevations in this block of Georgian structures means that even a basement level flat has its share of windows to the outdoors. The house is also alive with art on every wall, and there are bright bedspreads and bouquets in the guests’ rooms. Across the road is a vast park, around the corner are some excellent art galleries, and Princes Street is a short stroll.

The breakfasts, as other reviewers have described, are excellent. There’s something for everyone, from delicious Scottish breakfasts with eggs, bacon, sausage, and whole-grain toast, to fresh fruit and yogurt or cereal. Plenty of good coffee. On the last morning of our stay, Gerald made us an early complete breakfast so that we could leave for the airport well-fed. (We were particularly happy with the food in the attractive pub/bar at The Magnum, a block away, which Gerald recommended for a casual dinner).

Gerald’s enthusiasm about Edinburgh, his adopted city, is infectious, and his suggestions were on target. He’s a delightful person, and we appreciated all he’s done to make this a guest-friendly B&B – from the very comfortable beds to the in-house refrigerators (stocked with milk and filtered water) to the computer for guests with a high-speed connection to the countless up-to-date magazines, books, and brochures about Edinburgh and environs. Bravo.

We have just returned from Edinburgh. Though the weather was very cold we were happy to feel the warm atmosphere of Geraldsplace. Very helpful Justyna offered us a wonderful breakfast and a lot of useful information. Big nicely decorated and very calm room. Highly recommend!
