We found Gerald's Place in the 2005 "Best Bed & Breakfast, England, Scotland and Wales". When I booked it on email, Gerald sent back several pages of information about his establishement, Edinburgh and Scotland. He is very thorough!
On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Gerald and given an orientation to everthng offered. He made reservations for us at restaurants, for tours and for the only taxi we needed. His place is conveniently located so we were able to walk to most points of interest.
His house is small, but very interesting with a collection of art and artifacts.
Our bedroom had a very comfortable king sized bed, private bath, two desks, and all the usual amenities, including an internet connected computer just outside the door.
The food was delicious and generous, all prepared by Gerald himself. After the huge breakfast we didn't even need lunch!
And we enjoyed Gerald himself! He provided afternoon tea on the day we left and joined us for interesting conversation.
We would love to return someday.
