My wife and I had the honor of staying at Gerald's Place in September of 2001, during the time when the terrorists attacked the World Trade Center. He cared and provided for us as if we were family. Gerald truly is one of the finest men we have had the pleasure of meeting in our travels. You will find him to be so insightful and personalbe that it is difficult to leave his B&B daily and explore Edinburgh. Be sure and ask him to recommend places in both old and new Edinburgh to visit and eat. And, at the end of the day, ask if he will share an evening drink and some conversation with you. You will probably find, as we did, an evening with him is the most memorable part of the trip.

If it is at all possible, plan to stay at Gerald's while in Ednburgh. You will never want to leave!

If you are going to Edinburgh, this is definitely the place to stay for numerous reasons!

1. The location is supurb. Within walking distance of most places of interest and close enough to transportation if too far to walk. We even walked there from the train station!

2. Gerald's Place was spotless.

3. The bed had the most comfortable mattress, I believe it was a theraputic mattress, and the linens were wonderful.

3. The shower was great and there was terrific water pressure! Did you hear me? GREAT WATER PRESSURE!!

4. The breakfast Gerald served was incredible. He used only the best of everything, and the variety was unmatched. What we liked most about breakfast was visiting with Gerald. He is an extremely likeable fellow and it took no time to feel right at home.

When we make it back to Edinburgh, there is no question in our minds as to where we will stay. If you are reading reviews to choose a place to stay, you have no farther to look. This is the place!

It's like being put up by a long-lost uncle. Gerald's Place is now my home in Edinburgh, as far as I'm concerned. Peaceful, safe and comfortable, it was a pleasure to "come home" at the end of each day. Gerald is the type of host you hope you'll run into frequently, as he is a pleasure to be around, but he is never intrusive. So it's no wonder that after my last trip to Edinburgh, I knew exactly where I would stay this time. Cozy beds, great breakfasts, internet. We wanted for nothing.

My wife and I and another couple spent three nights with Gerald. It was the highlight of our visit to Edinburgh. The location is ideal for visiting the city and our host could not have been more accomodating. Our only regret was that we could not stay another two days.
