“Great location and kind staffs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

When you get out of the train sta, you will find it easily.
The staff were really kind and helpful.

But the facilities were just average or less.

It's fine to stay with the reasonable prices.

Room Tip: They have an on-line check in. If you don't want to wait in the queue, you can check in on line.

It's a good place where to stay for a few days in Edinburgh. It is in the center of the city, close to all the main attractions (max 20 minutes walk). I stayed in a female dormitory, the room was small, but really nice, the bed was comfortable. The Wii fii doesn't work in the rooms, but in the groups floor is excellent. There is also a really cute common area where to chill out or watch some tv. It is safe and clean enough. The only negative aspect is the breakfast: the hall is too small, so it'a very crowded, there aren't plates enough and tables where to seat. The offer of food is poor, but enough for that price, but still I think they might improve it! Anyway, I reccomend it, a friend of mine stayed in another one in Edinburgh, at the end of the Royal Mile, and it was awful, so in comparision the St. Christopher is a good one!

This is by far the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. I stayed in a 6bed dorm, it was very small and crammed. The bathrooms in the room & also the main we're disgusting and not maintained. Wouldn't recommend.

I stayed here in late August with some friends and found the rooms to be clean, safe & basic (you get what you pay for, and we paid very little). The locations, however, could not be more excellent. It's located right off one of the main streets in downtown Edinburgh and right out front is where you can get on a hop-on, hop-off bus! Would definitely recommend to friends travelling on the cheap.

I was afraid when i saw the tiny and worn reception and the live music from the next door pub but the staff was really helpful, the room silent and clean and the bed comfortable!
It is literally 2min walk from the station and has a lift.
The locker room is great for valuables and they had lockers big enough for my house-like-suitcase!
The breakfast and toilet facilities are basic but if you book a cheap youth hostel, you should not expect more.
I recommend it for a short stay.

The room is very clean. Shower room is easy to use. Security is well organized. The location is great located near castle ans center. The bar downside the hostel gives discount for foods and drinks for hostel customers. Staffs are kind and funny. Laundry available with free washing powder. Great with the price.

The location is excellent for shopping, and the cabs are just across the street and down a bit. We had a private room, which was extremely cramped, and the bathroom and shower were so tiny you could hardly raise your elbows to wash your hair. Cleanliness wasn't that great, though it was cheap. The wifi only works in the bar, so we were down there in our pajamas a lot. Bed wasn't all that comfortable, but again, it was cheap. When sitting in the bar on the internet, we got roped into drinking with the employees while they were on-shift, which while fun seemed a bit odd. We were invited to an orgy by an employee and my friend wound up sleeping with another one in the employee bunk room later that night. Again, while it was fun and they were all nice, it just seemed unprofessional.

The food also took a long time to come when you ordered it.
