My husband and I have just had a night in the glasshouse and were very impressed with it. We had a suite and it was absolutely stunning, very light and very modern with a great terrace. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was also stunning, with a very large bath. I note someone else has commented on the bath water being brown, I can confirm this seems to be the same everywhere in Edinburgh, as we had spent the previous night in a different hotel and found the same thing there.

There are lots of little extra's that make this hotel stand out, it scored 10/10 with us.

My Fiance took me to the Glasshouse for my 21st Birthday in January.

We were both very impressed with the bedroom and the service that we received from the staff. The bedrooms are very comfortable but also very modern-the only worrying thing though is sometimes the bath water was brown! Not a problem we were told as this is perfectly normal in Edinburgh!

The staff were superb though and provided us with anything that we asked for. The doorman even took my fiance to the health club next door to show him where it was.

The cooked breakfast is a tad expensive at £24, and it is slightly disappointing that they do not do eveining meals however there is pleantly to choose from next door in the complex.

All in all a fantastic trip! Book up now.

If you like boutique, modern hotels with fantastic service this hotel is a real treat, it is also in a fantastic location (although be prepared to pay extra for car parking in a multi-story near by, but at discounted rates). We had a room that looked out onto the terrace and although it wasn't warm enough to sit outside it was still nice to have the opportunity to open the door and have a view of the terrace. I especially liked the personal touches; the shoe shine service, candle in room and a free bottle of spring water placed in your room in the evening. We felt the cooked Scottish breakfast could have been better, but the self-service continental breakfast table more than made up for it.

I took my girlfriend to the Glasshouse for Valentines and to say she wasn't disappointed is an understatement.

I had booked a deluxe room and when we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly doorman (When I asked where the parking was, he even offered to come in the car to show me how to get there!!!)

The reception staff were nice and we were booked in very quickly and effortlessly. The room itself was excellent, very modern and was spotless from top to bottom. The bathroom was very modern with a lovely bath and separate glass shower, which again were all spotless top to bottom.

We had a 3rd floor room overlooking Leith Street and the view were fantastic - adjacent to a cathedral and with cracking views right down Leith Walk and out towards the sea. The centrepiece to the room for us however was definitely the bed. With my girlfriend being quite fussy when it comes to beds, I was delighted when she said it was the best bed she had ever slept in! I must admit, I echoed her thoughts, with the excellent mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets and duck feather pillows making a good nights sleep effortless! There is a nightclub below, and the street is very busy at weekends, but we noticed next to no noise coming from below, both during the day and night.

Staff were always friendly, and was good to see them not only doing their job well, but smiling and joking with each other at the same time, whilst always remaining professional.

My only pieces of advice for travellers to note is that there is no restaurant (although there is a dining room area for breakfast) and no bar. I feel they could have maybe sacrificed some of the massive amount of suites they have for a bar and restaurant. The food we ordered via room service was excellent with good-sized portions if not a little expensive. But the main piece of advice is to steer well clear of the minibar.... The prices were pretty ridiculous (£2 for a packet of malteasers and £5 for a 330ml bottle of Smirnoff Ice alcopop thingy!!)

All in all, it was an excellent stay and if returning, after seeing the deluxe room, we would have to sample the suite - just to see how much better it could possibly get!

What a fantastic hotel with very friendly and efficient staff.

The "porter" who is named William is a character. Friendly, helpfull, jovial, cheerfull, and always ready with a quip when it is called for.
He made the hotel and vacation for us as it was always a pleasure to talk with him at all times.

We had a suite and it was sheer luxury on par with the Nagresco in Nice and THAT is some claim to fame !
Heated floor tiles, a shower that would hold 4, a lovely sized bath, beautifull views and walks across the roof garden, everything was to a high and exacting standard.
Our suite wall was all glass to the roof gardens and with an easy access door, made for a pleasant stroll out there too.
The suits carried the names of Whiskeys and we had the Maclalan suite complete with a decanter (free) of that lovely whiskey too.

Surrounded by excellent eating places there is no need for this hotel to do any more than offer bed and breakfast, but room service did indeed provide so much more.
The honesty bar made a change and was well supported by the guests.

A £4 taxi fare to the Castle and the Old Royal Mile meant those who did not feel like the walk could travel at reasonable rates.
Princess Street was only a 5 minute stroll.

Car parking (The Omni Center) was next door in a secure underground car park and with the 30% discount from the Glasshouse, my 6 days secure (CCTV) parking cost only £45. A bargain indeed.

All in all a superb hotel for your break in Edinburgh.
I shall be returning there soon, rest assured.
