We stayed at the Glasshouse Hotel for six nights starting on May 26th, 2005. The hotel is quite unique with its amazing facade using both an old church and modern glass. The staff was always friendly -- from the ever present door man (he was quite a marvelous character) to the reception staff to the staff we would run into in the hallways. We would always get a smile and a greeting.
The room was fine. We were not in a suite but, although others have commented on the small room size, we were satisfied. We've stayed in some "closets" and this room was not one of them. There was a large, comfortable bed and room for a desk, glasstop table, and two chairs. There was a flat screen TV and radio/CD player in the room. The bathroom was very clean and modern and the shower worked perfectly. We appreciated the bottled water delivered each evening and The Times delivered every morning.
The location of the hotel is quite convenient -- just off Princes St. There is a back entrance to Waverly Station that is 5 minutes away. Our room was off the rooftop terrace where we both wandered and I took photos of Calton Hill.
Other than the pot to heat water not working and the cost of breakfast being rather high (we only ate breakfast there once on a day when it was the most convenient choice), we really had little about which to complain.
We got a nice package deal so the expense wasn't too bad either. If I got a similar deal again, I'd use the Glasshouse in a minute! My companion felt the same way as I do about this hotel.
