We stayed here for 1 night and from the moment we got out the taxi to be welcomed by the doorman to the moment we left it was an amazing experience. The room was exactly as it was in the hotel website pictures and extremely comfortable. The bed is most definately the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in.

Our balcony was overlooking the office building next door but gave a great view over Edinburgh. The roof garden was amazing and gave more superb views over the city.

The location is superb as its just off princess street and about 5mins from the train station. Overall a superb hotel worth its reputation and worth the room rate - DEFINATELY STAY.

We stayed at the Glasshouse Hotel for six nights starting on May 26th, 2005. The hotel is quite unique with its amazing facade using both an old church and modern glass. The staff was always friendly -- from the ever present door man (he was quite a marvelous character) to the reception staff to the staff we would run into in the hallways. We would always get a smile and a greeting.

The room was fine. We were not in a suite but, although others have commented on the small room size, we were satisfied. We've stayed in some "closets" and this room was not one of them. There was a large, comfortable bed and room for a desk, glasstop table, and two chairs. There was a flat screen TV and radio/CD player in the room. The bathroom was very clean and modern and the shower worked perfectly. We appreciated the bottled water delivered each evening and The Times delivered every morning.

The location of the hotel is quite convenient -- just off Princes St. There is a back entrance to Waverly Station that is 5 minutes away. Our room was off the rooftop terrace where we both wandered and I took photos of Calton Hill.

Other than the pot to heat water not working and the cost of breakfast being rather high (we only ate breakfast there once on a day when it was the most convenient choice), we really had little about which to complain.

We got a nice package deal so the expense wasn't too bad either. If I got a similar deal again, I'd use the Glasshouse in a minute! My companion felt the same way as I do about this hotel.

We stayed at The Glasshouse for two nights: May 17-19, 2005. It was wonderful. The rooms are on the smallish side, but very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. Our room exited to a huge back garden, with an amazing view of Calton Hill. Staff are friendly, courteous and helpful, and the location is convenient to Waverly Station, Princes Street and the Royal Mile -- each of which is just a short walk away. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

The rooms in this hotel have a lot of nice little touches. The bathroom towels reside on a special heater, the bathroom floors are heated, and they give you a big bottle of fresh still water every night. The bed is very comfortable, and the rooms are nicely decorated. They have a neat looking fireplace in the lounge. The only complaint I have is that my hotel key cards always seemed to stop working.

Stayed here for 4 nights including the weekend and here are some of experiences. Firstly the room and bathroom were very clean and well stocked with Korres tolietries (although they advertised Aveda but good nontheless)
Asked for a quiet room with a view and was provided with a room right above the entrance of the Lloyds bar downstairs. The noise was not too bad though but would have liked a view of Carlton Hill at least!

Thought that the honesty bar could have been priced a little bit cheaper than the room service tariff (in fact they were identical) as this is the case in most hotel bars.

Liked the fact that they do provide bottled water in the evening as part of the turndown service but then it does not seem to be mentioned in the literature, so was caught a bit short by the lady barging into the room while I was taking a shower. I did have the chainlock on, but that broke off. At least it was fixed the next day.

Another user has also mentioned the high cost of the internet charge. I agree entirely, and I must admit that I am still waiting for the day when hotels provide Free Broadband just as they provide free tea and coffee.

Onto the negative side of things and the service needs to be significantly improved, from the simple things such as staff saying good morning when passing you in the corridor instead of ignoring you, to the appaling breakfast service. I cannot emphasise enough that if you want a cup of tea or coffee and anything cooked, then be prepared to wait around and when you finally get your cooked breakfast and your coffee has gone tepid, be sure to ask for ketchup or brown sauce as you will not be offered it. I went down for breakfast on 3 mornings and each time the service was very slow and inefficient. I would suggest that they take breakfast orders as soon as guests arrive and have pots of tea or coffee for guests ti serve themselves. Just as they do for the continental breakfast and don't forget the Ketchup!
