“Faultless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Myself and my fianc stayed here for a simple night away. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. Huge room and balcony overlooking the city. We took a walk to the garden and had the weather been nicer we'd have sat a bit longer.
Cannot fault this hotel, every staff member made you feel welcome and it is simply beautiful.
We will definitely be back

This is a great hotel in a great location. Everything feels fresh and new. The staff here really go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Andrew on Reception kindly drew us a map and gave us a full briaf on how to get about and what to see in the City.
The breafast was outstanding, smoked salmon and eggs perfectly cooked and presented. Lovely breakfast room with a good view. Very romantic, defienly get the breakfast.
The room was average size, comfortable bed, good coffee machine. Spotless bathroom.
Looking forward to returning in the future.

Booked my wife and I in last year for the romantic experience and all the little touches were a delight . We stayed in a suite which looked onto John Lewis and although it was on a main thoroughfare when the door was closed we couldn't hear a thing outside . As with all Marriot hotels (the ones we have been to in any case the bed was exceptionally comfortable leading to a great nights sleep .We had breakfast in the room which was also very good .
When I was offered a deal to return through Amazon local this year 2014 I jumped at the opportunity of returning due to our previous experience.
On arrival the staff were very welcoming as comes to be expected when arriving at such an establishment in particular the concierge who greeted us with friendly heartwarming smile.
We got a similar room as before which was spotless and a great size as mentioned previously in trip adviser the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a treat Unfortunately as the wife now wants it installed in our house :). )There is a huge balcony outside the room and now they have sort of fenced off each rooms area where as before you were able to walk from one rooms allocated area to another.
We had our dinner in the Snug which had been recently refurbished . Although the food was excellent( we had scallops followed by the sea bass) there was no atmosphere as my wife and I were the only couple using this area at the time .There was some music going on in the background but it was barely laudable .
We opted for breakfast in the room once more and again it didn't disappoint it was delicious .It also afforded us the view over onto the firth of forth and the hills beyond as we sat at the table in front of the huge windows .
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel due to its location and the service provided and all being well we hope to return in the near future .

Room Tip: Considering our room was at the front of the hotel and was quiet even although it faced onto a busy...

The Glasshouse is an excellent hotel which I chose following a write-up in The Irish Times. It is very centrally located within easy walking distance of all the sights in Edinburgh. The room was beautiful and I particularly loved the roof garden. It would be a lovely place to sit out when the weather is a little warmer. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the "lounge / Bar" area on the third floor. It was too open, very lacking in atmosphere and not conducive to relaxing with a drink. We preferred to take a glass to our room. Other than that The Glasshouse is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Edinburgh and I would recommend it to all my friends.

I chose this hotel only because of the high reviews on trip advisor. Because we didn't know our way around the city to much, we took cabs the 1st day. but with the city centre so close we walked on day 2.
the outside of the hotel looks old and grand but inside it is beautiful and modern
The room was beautiful, with all mod cons and even an iron and board in the wardrobes, every thing was clean and smart and the bed was VERY comfortable. the bathroom was bright and clean with underfloor heating and heated towel rails, room service and the mini bar seemed reasonable although we didn't use them.
we did get a drink in the beautiful snug everything was very cosy and this was very reasonable.

All staff where polite and welcoming and would be happy to help with any questions or problems.

I plan to stay again in the summer and take advantage of the roof garden we had a section of the garden hedged off for our enjoyment and I would love to sit there with a book and a few drinks and watch the summer sun go down

Room Tip: all rooms are on floor 3 you have to pass though the snug to get to half the rooms. families my wis...

Dear Reviewer,

You really described our idea of relaxing in the city. Indeed our roof garden is a great place for our guests to relax and I am glad you found the rest of the hotel comfortable. Our staff always try to make our guests happy and it’s fantastic to be recognised for that.

Looking forward to see you then in the summer.
