“how did we not know about this place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

we went in on a friday night and it was busy, great buzz about the place and from the moment we walked in we felt very welcome, i might be wrong here but it seems like a family run restaurant given the way the staff seem to bounce off each other. everyone is full of charm from the tall gentleman on the door and the lads in the kitchen cracking jokes between one another, to the main waiter who is a born entertainer, singing and dancing along to the background music, the menu choice is excellent and while we didnt venture for anything out of the ordinary the food was lovely, i opted for the garlic pizza bread and my partner had the minestrone soup, the dough was light and fluffy for the my pizza bread and the minestrone was surprizingly light, something that was a pleasant surprise from the all too often tinned chopped tomato versions that you find in so many other italian restaurants. for mains we had the sea bass and the spagetti mare which were both excelent. nearing the end of our meal since it was quietening down the waiters got the karaoke out for the table next to us who appeared to be in for a special occasion and we ended up staying for another round to watch it unfold, karaoke is karaoke but watching the staff get involved as well made it a lot more entertaining to watch . all in all a lovely restaurant with excellent staff and great food, to be honest if i could give a ten for atmosphere i would. these guys genuinley love what they do and that shines through. well done and keep up the great work. thanks.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We ate at Bar Frizzante a few weeks ago and were thoroughly impressed. I had heard good things about the place so we decided to try it for ourselves and I am very happy we did. The food was delicious; filling and tasty in equal measures. The staff were friendly and polite and the atmosphere of the restaurant was welcoming and easy going. The prices for the quality of the food where excellent and we will be paying another visit before too long!

“Fab!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

Lovely little Italian restaurant serving great home cooked food. My pasta was delicious & the margareita pizza got a big thumbs up from my usually fussy 7 yr old! Service really friendly & they made lots of effort to speak to my kids. Will definitely go back.

“Ordinary, ordinary, ordinary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Had no great expectations, Lothian Road is choc a bloc with tacky looking eating places. This looked no different. Had the crispy prawns to start and they had a very strange wrapping around a very miniscule prawn. Quite toothsome in their own way. My sea bass was big on quantity and oil but was not the freshest piece of fish I've ever eaten. The vegetable accompaniment was bland and flavourless. The house red was very acceptable. The service was ok but it wasn't very busy on the evening I went. I will not be going again and I can't recommend it. I would have like to give it a 2 1/2 rating. I agree with bazm78's observations.

“Lovely meal great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Really nice meal and great service at the Bar Frizzante, shared starters between four (one more chicken wing would have saved a "stand off."
Pasta main courses were excellent washed down with a good Chianti!
