“Unplanned Curry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Typically I only live 10 minutes walk from Abida but never been before. My daughter a poor Student(so she says) invited me to pay for a curry for us. Popped into Abida 6:30 on Saturday. Was already a few diners in and tables laid out for 30 for a 50th birthday party. The interior is well laid out, clean, large and bright. The food was excellent and more than enough. Reasonably priced and would definitely go again.

“Good choice of meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Lunch time at the Abida is great, food is lovely and the fact that you can choose from either the Thai or Indian menu. The portions were adequate and filling and for £7.50 per head my wife and I found the whole thing enjoyable and not expensive.

“Well spiced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I thought this place was rather expensive but I don’t eat out in Edinburgh all that often, so maybe it’s par for the course. I and the other members of our group enjoyed our meals. The mild curries were mild and the medium curry, just a tad warmer than what I’d call medium. At least there was some spice which is generally something often lacking. It wasn’t so hot that it put me off. I would go there again and even try one of their take-away’s.

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Only ever been in at lunch time for the business lunch but it is tremendous, the portion sizes for the price you pay are brilliant! £10 including a soft drink for 3 courses. The food is delicious as well and the service is quick enough!

“Would have been five star with better service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Yesterday I was part of a large works lunch party at Abida. We'd pre-ordered our food but that didn't seem to have made its way correctly to the kitchen as there were big gaps between people being served and the waiters had to retake orders. My friend twice reminded the waiter that another friend was still waiting for his food a good 10-15 mins after everyone and the waiter snapped back at her that they were "still serving". That really isn't good service which is a shame because the food was delicious. Moist, fragrant lamb dhansak with fluffy rice as and light naan. Starter was fresh, crispy onioned vegetable pakora. There are lots of good Indian restaurants in Edinburgh and restaurants where service is impeccable but if Abida sharpen up their service they'll have a place people will go out of their easy to get to.
