“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights, was a very enjoyable experience. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Davy on reception who provided us with a map, recommended sights and let us check in a little early. The room was what you expect, basic tea/coffee making facilities, tv, shower etc. Great location, couldn't be any better for the price, practically in the centre of Edinburgh and very easy to walk everywhere and lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The only downside is that the walls are paper-thin and when leaving I discovered an empty bottle that wasn't ours so the cleaners must have missed it.
Over all though, a great hotel.

This hotel is located on the quieter side of town but the shopping areas and attractions are within walking distances. It is about 15 minutes to reach from Waverly Station on foot. Getting to the bus station would be nearer by walking straight on the right of the hotel and turn right again at Dublin street and the bus station is on the left.

Check in at the hotel was fast and we borrowed a hair dryer and a table fan as the room was not air-conditioned which was warm and stuffy during the summer heat. Room is spacious and clean. Bed firm and comfortable. Bathroom and toilet clean. Loved the short bathtub for a quick dip. TV works with usual English channels and wifi free for 30 minutes.

Tea and coffee facility provided in the room. Sleep quality was good and not much noise issue. No complaint at all. Room could be cheaper if booked much earlier in advance. Nice quiet garden in front of the hotel but not meant for the public.

i have just returned from staying 3 nights in the beautifull city of edinburgh. this hotel is really well situated in the new town close to george street and princes street. It was so easy to get here from the airport, a return costs £7.00 on express bus 100 there is a running comentary which tells you the next stop get off at george st the next left is hanover street turn left there walk down and turn left again and you are on queen st the hotel is only a few yards along. the hotel is clean and comfortable the room was a little small but ok for me as i am alone. take your own toileteries not even any soap here. only about 6 hangers for clothes nothing else you live out of your suitcase but for a short break it is fine for the money you pay. i was in a quiet part of the hotel on the 3rd floor but i was close to the lift and the door bangs when someone goes through it also the doors to other rooms including your own bangs when it closes. even though travelodge has no policy to keep luggage for you they were kind enough to keep my case for me as i had an evening flight so i could go out and enjoy my last day. the best place for breakfast is the standing order wetherspoons pub round the corner on george street.

Stayed here for 4 nights last week. It's in a great location, really close to George Street and Princes Street but away from most of the noise. We requested a quiet room in advance and were given a room facing inwards on the 3rd floor. The room had 2 windows so it was great for getting a bit of cool air during the very warm weather. There was absolutely no noise from outside but there was a bit of noise from inside. The room was near the lifts and there was a fire door coming from the lift foyer and this slammed every time someone used it so we were woken up early most mornings but it wasn't a big deal. The room itself was spotless and the bed very comfortable. We could have done with a few more towels and a mat for the bathroom floor but again these are not the kind of things I lose sleep over. Any of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. This hotel really is the perfect base for exploring Edinburgh and it's so reasonably priced for the location, I would absolutely stay here again.

Not a bad hotel. Clean and tidy. We stayed for 2 nights and it was a very warm 2 nights. Luckily the windows opened but you heard the noise in the back alley so the reception staff gave me a fan. Checking in staff was very nice and helpful. They kept our bags for free so we could go out and about and we checked in later on in evening. Would recommend.

I'm torn between giving a good review and a bad one. You decide.

We were in Edinburgh for 6 night and didn't want to waste too much money on a hotel room, we were there to explore not watch tv.

We were given a room at the back of the hotel facing an alley way, great I thought no noise. There was no noise until we had to open the windows because the room was very hot. The noise begin and continued until the small hours of the morning - smashing bottles from the bars around the hotel. Not the hotels fault...didn't really mean we were able to have a good sleep. There were a few other things wrong with the room so we spoke with reception and were moved to another room facing the inner part of the hotel. This room was much better, we were able to have the windows open for air and sleep!

For the price it was alright. Would we stay again.....not sure.
