“A couple of cautions ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014 via mobile

I agree with the majority of reviewers. Rooms are clean; place is amazingly quiet; breakfasts are FAR better than nearly any hotel breakfast we've ever had in the US; and the staff are wonderful. Plus, it is so easy to get into Edinburgh and all the sites, as others say. But - be prepared for spartan. There are no room amenities: no Kleenex, only two towels and one hand towel. The hand shower soap, from a dispenser, doubles as shampoo. So bring your own if you're uncomfortable with this arrangement.

It’s always a tad trying to review a hotel chain like Premier Inn especially when their larger hotels are always designed by the same team using a proven design ...Don’t get me wrong I don’t expect a lot for £35 quid a night and trying to find a decent independent hotel at that price is never going to be easy especially in Edinburgh. However, just like the one in Leeds you can’t open the window and have to rely on the air-conditioning, unlike the Travelodge brand which allows a window opening the size of a “Gnat’s testicle” even on the hundredth floor.

We had room 115 which was fine unless you wanted to be woken at five o’clock in the morning by the children in the room above running from bed to door then back again. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful stay apart from no haggis for breakfast, coffee lacking any coffee beans and the bar shutting at 11.00............ It was Easter though!

Room Tip: Higher up the better

Dear Alex,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay At Premier Inn Edinburgh Park.

We are delighted that you found our rates to be of great value, as you mentioned, to secure hotel accommodation in Edinburgh over Easter weekend for £35 per night is incredibly good value.

As we are branded hotel you should find excellent levels of consistency in terms of service and amenities which I hope you experienced whilst staying with ourselves, but also some of the more unique offerings that we provide at Edinburgh Park such as our Thyme Restaurant and our On-site Costa Coffee Store.

I'm disappointed to hear that you were dissatisfied with a number of issues throughout your stay.

In regards to the windows within your bedroom, unfortunately our bedroom windows are fully sealed for a number of very important reasons including Health & Safety and noise reduction due to our close proximity to Edinburgh Park train station. As you have mentioned, every room is fitted with air conditioning and fans can be issued from reception on request but I appreciate that this is not suitable for everyone.

As far as internal noise is concerned, this is something that we take very seriously and we follow our silent night processes vigilantly to ensure all guests have a great nights sleep. If this issue was referred to our reception team they will have done everything in their power to resolve this issue. We are a very popular family hotel and we can have a large number of children staying in the hotel so we try when possible to use considerate room allocation to avoid such disruptions. I can only apologise if this was not resolved to your satisfaction at the time.

Our Bar & Restaurant opening times have been determined with all guests considerations taken into account. Again, as we are a very popular family hotel we do close our bar at 11pm although with the city centre only 5 minutes away from our location with hundreds of bars and clubs open till the early hours, we generally have not found this to be an issue. Naturally our reception team will always be happy to make suitable recommendations and support with any transport arrangements should our guests wish to carry on drinking after our bar is closed.

We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent breakfast to all of our guests and generally the feedback that we receive is consistently positive so I am again sorry that you have again felt dissatisfied with our offering.

Our 'All you can eat' Premier Breakfast has 67 items to choose from and all items will be fully replenished throughout the breakfast service. Naturally our Food & Beverage team are always happy to accommodate specific requests when we can but unfortunately haggis is not one of the 13 hot items that we offer but this is something that we will refer to our Food & Beverage Development team as a potential addition for the future.

All guest feedback is fully valued and plays a huge part in the success of our brand.

If you would like to discuss any of these issues further please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Richard Blackwood

Super clean, friendly, comfortable. With a train next door which is only two stops from Waverley, this hotel is a great place to spend a night or more without the hassle of parking in central Edinburgh. For those of you flying, the airport is only 10 minutes away by car. I would not hesitate to stay here again.Well done Premier Inn yet again!

I’m happy to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with in our hotel as well as our great location. Our team do all that they can to be as friendly as possible. They strive to ensure our guests are well looked after and comfortable during their stay.

Being right next to Edinburgh Park train station it couldn’t be easier to reach our city centre and only costing £3.90 for a peak time return ticket. With 10 minutes to reach Edinburgh Waverly it doesn’t take long to start exploring our wonderful city. Thank you for your great review.

The hotel is new and clean. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and well kept. The hotel is an extremely good value if visiting Edinburgh.

There is a train station just across the street that is two stops from downtown Edinburgh. The trains run every 15 minutes or so into and out of the city. Return tickets are cheaper than using the Edinburgh park and rides. Will be returning to Edinburgh in a few months and plan to use this hotel again.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Edinburgh Park (The Gyle) Premier Inn during your recent visit to Edinburgh.

I’m pleased you have taken the time to give us feedback. It’s great to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us and our great location.

Being placed in the Edinburgh park we are very lucky to have such a quiet location. As well as providing free parking its great for those who don’t fancy taking their car to the city centre. With the trains being every 15 minutes and taking only 10 minutes to reach the centre it can’t get any easier.

This hotel is perfectly placed for travelling in and around Edinburgh without having to pay the earth to stay near the city centre. The hotel is 2 train stops away from Edinburgh itself and takes 10 mins by train. There's free parking and shops over the road so if you forget anything you are not far away from being able to buy toiletries etc.
Hotel is clean and comfortable and although the food is a tad expensive it is of excellent standard so happy to pay that bit more.

Room Tip: The hotel is right next to the train station but the noise if not too bad from passing trains. They...

Dear JCandfamily

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Edinburgh Park (The Gyle) Premier Inn during your recent visit to Edinburgh.

I’m pleased to hear that you have enjoyed our excellent location. With the trains only costing £3.90 for a peak time return ticket it’s perfect for quick trips into our beautiful city. As you said we don’t charge for car parking this is ideal for Edinburgh as city centre parking can be quite expensive.

Across the train station is Hermiston gait retail Park as well as having a large Tesco supermarket they have recently added a TK Max as well. Meaning our location keeps improving.

Thank you for your great review. I’m happy you have enjoyed our clean and comfortable rooms. I’m sorry to hear one of your nights sleep was disturbed, however I am very pleased that our receptionists resolved this with our Good Night Guarantee.

We all look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Edinburgh.

Yours sincerely
