“excellent stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

stayed here recently for a couple nights as working in Edinburgh and found htis hotel to be just as nice as the first time I was there, last May.
check in was very quick and the chap who checked me in was very helpful. I asked for an iron and ironing board and it was bought up to the room which I was happy with. It is a shame they dont have the facility in the room but glad it didnt take a number of phone calls to get this.
didnt have breakfast so unable to comment.
However, a couple of colleagues who stayed with me, did and they enjoyed it.
the hotel does not do room service. I didnt fancy eating in the restaurant as had a really long day and just wanted to eat and ket an early night. You can order the food and they will call you in your room (if you dont want to wait in the bar) and you can collect and take it back to your room. Food is the usual hotel selection and nothing to complain about. I was hungry and it filled me up !!!

there is not much to eat around the hotel from what Isaw, so you may need to get a car or taxi to get into the centre where there are lots more options.
We did venture into the centre on our last night and it cose approx £15 one way.

Check out was very efficient too. There are 4 floors in the hotel and it is a new hotel. Right next to the train station. I believe it was the Edinburgh Park station so it is very convenient.
I would certainly stay here again and would recommend this to others too.

This new and large Premier Inn on the western outskirts of Edinburgh looks at first sight a little isolated. However, that impression is wrong. It is located next to Edinburgh Park rail station with direct, quick and low cost access to the city centre. In future you will also be able to access the new tram system with connections to the city and airport. There is also plenty of parking with easy access to the A8 and the city bypass via the South Gyle roundabout about 1/2 mile to the north. Beware that this can become very busy during the morning and evening rush hours. A South Gyle you will find the large shopping centre including M&S. The hotel itself is to the standard you would expect of Premier Inn with large clean rooms over 4 floors. Check in done using the ATM style machines but the friendly receptionist was on hand. Access to the lifts is via the door key. My only disappointment was the special dinner and breakfast rate evening meal; the boiled potatoes were uncooked. There is also a Costa Coffee outlet which was closed in the evening.

a very late arrival but one phone call to the hotel and clear directions were available.

very clean and friendly staff. The room was well decorated and fresh and exceptionally clean.

the meals in the resturant dinner and breakfast were both vey good and an excellent choice available.

The hotel is located on a business trading estate so, dont' expect to walk out the hotel to shops becuase there aren't any.

Stayed here for 4 nights and had a lovely big and clean room with a very comfy bed.the room we stayed in over looked the train line and beyond that there was a retail park with a large busy car park but with the double glazing we really didn't hear too much of the trains or traffic. There was also a good sized car park for residents and a good little restaurant attached to the inn as well as a costa coffee. The restaurant was busy every night but we ate there one night and had a nice meal. The only negative thing that some might find is that this inn is situated outside Edinburgh Center, its nearer the airport and probably about a 10/15 min journey from the Center by car. therefore you would need a car or to use public transport, but that's not a big deal with the train line being right next to the inn. Overall We found it to be Very good value for money especially as we where lucky enough to get one of the £29 per night deals but even if we had paid more we would still say it was worth the money.

The first thing to know about Premier Inn hotels when deciding where to stay, is that this particular Premier, like all Premiers, are a budget chain.
This one, like most other Premier Inns, provides a clean room, decent bed and a basic modern bathroom. There is no concierge, no bell hop, no toothbrushes, no minibar, no room service, no dressing gown/slippers and usually no secure parking ( as is the case here). There is one person on duty at the reception desk from 7am till 10pm, who is also the manager, secretary, telephone switchboard operator and entire complaints department. If you are coming to a Premier Inn, know that it is great for a one night stopover, people on business trips, that it does cater for children at no extra / minimal cost, and that it offers a money-back, no questions asked satisfaction guarantee. This particular Premier Inn is also modern, vibrant, new and ( like most) very cheap to stay at.
The first hint for staying at this hotel is to update your Satnav. This place is still quite new and the postcode did not register on ours. Alternately, you can ask for Edinburgh Park Railway station as the hotel is directly opposite.
Second hint; if you are paying by card, you will be directed by the manager/receptionist to the computer touchscreen self serve check-in. Our internationally based credit card did not work with this system and the manager/receptionist had no idea why not. So. If you have an international credit card ( ie, not UK), bring cash. Just in case. Because the foyer ATM/Hole-in-the-Wall was also not working.
Third hint; when booking, request a room on the top floor. We were on the first floor and the occupants directly above us either had over-excited children running about, or they were conducting a ballroom dancing class. Either way, the thumping noises of busy, heavy feet went on well into the night and began again at 6am the next morning.
Fourth hint; recheck your on-line booking when arriving. I am not sure what happened here, but we were originally given a room on the third floor ( for 2A 1C) and the room was made up for one adult only when our booking clearly stated it was for three people. The manager was most apologetic about the "mix-up". She left the reception desk and helped us move all our bags as soon as she had the chance, but it did take an hour before she was free to do so, and to open up our new room on the first floor so we could move in there. Where there were bath towels for two.
On the plus side, breakfast was included and was really good - no different than you would find in far more expensive accommodation. We also ate dinner in the licensed hotel restaurant T-Thyme. The food was good and cheap -similar to pub fare without having to find the pub or drive home afterwards.
I am sure most stays here go a lot smoother than ours, and when you consider that most hotels in this price range tend to be older-style accommodation with obvious problems, the Edinburgh Park Premier Inn is a fantastic alternative. However, if you are looking for charming, personality filled, authentic regional style in the place you stay, or you like your little luxuries, I would suggest hopping back onto Trip Advisor and looking elsewhere.

Room Tip: Request a room on the top floor - noise from above may become an issue

Booked here as perfect location for everything Edinburgh has to offer without going into the centre. Well located near motorway and right next to Edinburgh Park, a cheap day return (£3 adult, £1.50 children) and we were in the centre of Edinburgh. Fantastic welcome, well kept, clean and warm (especially after the snow and rain came all day during Saturday in Edinburgh). Everything about the hotel was good/excellent although we did feel they could do a bit better at breakfast time but the staff still maintained their professionalism even when things went against them a bit. And they dealt well with one little issue we had so no complaints. Overall, this hotel gave Premier Inn a very good name - my children only want to stay in Premier Inn's now - that should be enough of a review on it's own. Good location too for the zoo (5 minutes).
