We spent three nights at Kew House over Easter weekend, and would choose to stay here again and again. The location is perfectly convenient to the airport and the center of town. If you're up for a nice walk, Kew House sits on the main street leading into town - about a 15 minute walk. Or, as we did on may trips into the city center, catch the bus and be there in 5. The 24-hour bus pass is well worth the money.

Even though Kew House sits on a fairly busy street, we had the ground floor room facing the street and had no issues with noise at night. The room was very clean, the linens comfortable and the hot water always available in the bathroom. A small fridge in the closet was always filled with 2 bottles of water and a few packages of shortbread for the afternoon!

Breakfast was excellent, whether you eat light or heavy, with everything from cereal and muffins to eggs and haggas.

Ian and Alan were superb hosts, providing every bit of information we needed and giving us excellent tips to make the most of our visit.

We loved the hospitality of Edinburgh and of Kew House, and would highly recommend both to anyone looking for a nice holiday.

My Fiancée and I stayed with Alan and Ian for her Birthday weekend in Edinburgh. From the second we arrived we felt at home. I am very fussy about cleanliness so I am happy to tell you that this is without doubt the cleanest place I have ever stayed. Attention to detail is second to none; the décor is very tasteful. We have a tempura mattress at home so we are never happy with other beds, however the bed in room 6 was excellent. The short walk into town was lovely and the busses really are every 3 minutes. We used a taxi once, We won’t again. I could go on and on but would only be repeating previous posts. My main reason for writing this post is to thank the Guys for helping me organise our weekend, the restaurants they suggested even down to the wine to order where superb. We have just booked our Honeymoon and yes you guest it, it was their recommendation. Take my advice, stay here and listen to their advice……success guaranteed.

We stayed at one of the apartments for 4 nights in late April 2007. We are a family of two adults and two kids (10 & 8) and probably the only downside to our stay was that one of us needed to sleep on a folding bed in the lounge room. However, that was a minor inconvenience and definitely wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

All in all, this is a fantastically run establishment. From the time we checked in with Ian, we were given plenty of information about where to go and what to do. The apartment itself was extremely clean and roomy. Basically I would say that we couldn't have had a better stay - everything about the apartment was brilliant. Satellite tv, lovely towels and bedding, great breakfast with fresh bread, yoghurt & cereals, washer/dryer, toiletries, on site parking, I could go on and on. All the recommendations on Tripadvisor about this place are accurate, it truly is worth 5 stars.

Well done to the owners - keep up the good work!

We visited Kew House exactly two years ago and had a wonderful stay so it was our first choice on a return visit to Edinburgh still tracing my wife's Scottish roots. So often accommodation is never the same on a second visit but we were surprised to find that much of the accommodation had actually improved. Ian and Alan were just as helpful, the breakfasts were just as fresh and enjoyable and we were helped to find new restaurants off the beaten track ( you must try First Coast) which were so much better than the tourist haunts you usually end up in.
Kew House is uncluttered and modern and we always feel at home there. Nothing is too much trouble right down to simple requests such as my wife's one for peppermint tea instead of regular in the room. I even left my AT&T access number behind and they were able to track it down for me.
I don't know when we will be back but if we do I know where we will be staying.

The hosts at Kew House made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable the moment we arrived. Our host gave us lots of information upon checking us in, in terms of good places to eat, how to get around, where to go/what to do, and the hours of free internet, as well as breakfast in the morning (which is included in the price). We stayed in a room on the bottom floor, close to the entrance. At first I thought this might be noisy, listening to people go in and out, but it wasn't at all. Upon seeing our room, absolutely everything was spotlessly clean, with chocolates and brandy to greet our arrival. The bathroom was a thing of beauty: immaculately clean, with beautiful lighting and excellent hot water pressure in the shower. The bed was comfortable as well, and the room had exceptionally high ceilings which was a nice touch. The location is slightly down the road from the main attractions in Edinburgh - we tried walking to them a few times but found this a little exhausting. However, you are given ample information about which buses stop by to take you into the heart of the action, or you can easily call a taxi. Some of the things not to miss: Edinburgh castle, the Royal Mile, Mary King's Close (a tour of an underground haunted close/alley), and the Rosland Chapel (you can get info on how to catch the bus there). Kew house was the first place we stayed upon entering Scotland, before we toured the interior and islands. Upon arriving back in Edinburgh after our excursions, we had another night in Edinburgh before flying out but in another hotel. I can honestly say that Kew House was probably the best place we had stayed during our entire vacation, even if it was a bit pricey for us Canadians with the currency conversion. You cannot beat it for making your stay a memorable and comfortable one - a real home away from home.
