We, spouse and our three and five year olds, stayed at the Balbirnie Apartment B, which is across the street from the B&B. It was fabulous, private, brand new and a wonderful place for our family. The apartment had a dining area, kitchen, and lounge on the first floor. Upstairs was a full bathroom a small bedroom with one single bed, we brought a ReadyBed for our youngest and another bedroom with a King size bed and a huge closet. TV, DVD player downstairs and another TV in the larger bedroom. Breakfast supplies were left for us daily, bread, milk, juice, cereal, fruit and jam. We brought in some of our own food as well, and cooked dinner and had lunch supplies to pack for our daily excursions. So much easier when travelling with young children. We also could sleep in and have breakfast at our leisure and in our pjs. The apartment was cleaned daily as well. It is a 15/20 minute walk into the city center, and I loved the walk that Ian showed us to take a little off the main route. There is also a bus that stops directly in front of the Kew house, which we also jumped on to return at night. We ate dinner out at Chop, Chop - good place to take kids if they like noodles and dumplings. This was a quick 10 minute walk from the Kew house. In terms of activities to do with the kids - there is a fabulous playground in the Princess street garden, we strolled up the hill and spent several hours in the castle. We then walked down the Royal Mile and found ourselves in the lovely Storytelling Center with a cozy cafe and crafts and stories for the kids. We also took a bus tour, and hopped off at the Holyrood Palace and park - gorgeous. We had amazing weather and loved Edinburgh. Will go back and will stay at the Kew house apartments!
