“A good place to stay in Edinburgh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be a very good guest house. It is convenient for the city with regular buses passing the house. Jim (the owner) was very genial and helpful. The room was well appointed with all the amenities you would expect. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. If you like dogs, Jim's dog, Gabby, a labradoodle, is lovely and friendly. Overall a very good place to stay.

Room Tip: Room on the road side has good views into Edinburgh and the Castle.

I stayed at BrigO'Doon guest house whilst attending a seminar in Edinburgh for 4 days. It was quick easy to access New Town area and the City Centre, and a pleasant quiet location to stay. The beds were comfortable and the traditional aspect of the building made it very welcoming and cosy. It also provided every modern convenience such as a modern spacious wet room facility ensuite and home cooked breakfasts. The owner was helpful with directions and other enquiries so my visit ran smoothly. It was a relaxing stay great for business or for tourist visiting Edinburgh.

We stayed for 2 days at the Brig O'Doon Guest House. A bus stop is in front of the Guest House so one can conveniently get to sites within the city . It took us only a few minutes to get to the Royal Mile where we then walked to the Edinburgh Castle. Jim, the owner of Brig O'Doon, was very helpful with directions to things we wanted to see. The Guest House was clean ,spacious and comfortable. The only criticism was the shower, the water from the shower would run all over the floor, therefore showers were quick. Breakfast was excellent and served in a comfortable and spacious dinning room. Our family (my wife and I and son and his wife) would return.

Room Tip: Both rooms our family occupied were excellent.

The owner, Jim, is friendly, helpful and accommodating. He quickly got us started on getting around the city, then stayed out of the way until we needed him again. Our particular room and bathroom were spacious for a B and B and the room had a nice view of the city.
Two buses run--one just outside the front door, and another down at the corner. (One way trip is one pound 30, exact change only). Easy getting around from here.

Breakfast very hearty, good coffee.

The B&B is on a busy street, so if passing traffic bothers you, ask for a rear room, or find another situation.

We stayed at this B & B for three nights in March 2011. The rooms were very nice. It was affordable. And best of all the bus service stopped right outside the front door. It was just a 10 minute bus ride to the royal mile. Breakfast was perfect for the price. The owners were always friendly and available. I would highly recommend anyone looking to stay in a B & B in Edinburgh to give this great establishment a try.
