Free admission. Plenty to see I only went to see part of the exhibits, you could spend all day here. There is an interesting history of scotland section adjacent.

“Mary Queen of Scots made very real”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

I really visited to see the Mary Queen of Scots exhibition. It was very well done, essentially set out as a walk along the timeline of her life. However, it was by no means just reading about Mary. There were lots of paintings, clothes, objects etc from Mary's life and times. There were half sized dolls of Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Mary which were breathtaking in terms of the exquisite clothing they were wearing. There was also an excellent video presentation on the events surrounding the death of Lord Darnley. They have even reproduced her tomb from Westminster Abbey.
Most of the rest of my time at the museum I spent on the various levels of Scotland's history which is divided up by various times over several floors. As an historian with Scottish heritage, I of course loved it I wasn't so taken with the rest of the museum but it wasn't where my interest lay.

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Brilliant museum with such a vast array of exhibitions that you need more than one day to enjoy them all. I really enjoyed the communications section as well as the nice bookshop in the museum gift shop.

“Interesting and interactive - brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We only had a couple of hours and so chose to visit just a few areas. This is a museum you could lose yourself in for days (we're going to go for repeated trips).

Entry is free and there is something for everyone (including interactive things for children and adults alike).

Fascinating displays and enthralling clocks, especially the moving sculpture millennium clock which chimes on the hour i think.

Utterly lovely!

“Museum”

Just a gem great day out,so much to see and learn the kids loved it. Very modern building light and airy ,only parking is a bit heavy handed by council,so be warned.
