“Simply the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

This is a lovely restaurant situated in an oasis of calm in the West End, the service and decor are exemplary and the food is without doubt the best in Edinburgh. The chef is French and this shows in his presentational skills and also in the textures and flavours he coaxes from his ingredients which are of the highest quality. There are some Michelin restaurants in Edinburgh labouring under the delusion that having a star enables them to charge extortionate prices for little better than bistro food and with wine prices which are equally crazy. Luckily we have The Mulroy serving sensational Michelin star quality food, but at sensible prices and with charming service and is a serious contender for 'best in Edinburgh'.

Thank you very much! We continue to try and deliver excellent food in great surroundings, look out for a new a la carte menu next week featuring some fantastic new dishes, created by Chef Rolain.

“Superb food in a warm, sophisicated french, country style setting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We are in Edinburgh for the Royal Military Edinburgh Tattoo and decided upon this restaurant because of the good rating it received on Trip Advisor. We were tentative about being at basement level however at the bottom of the short stairs is an absolute treasure of a restaurant. The decor is 'french country style' and a setting befitting the sublime food which we enjoyed this evening. The scallops and snails for starters were excellent and the salmon and cod for mains had the most moorish sauces and were perfectly cooked and presented. Our compliments to the chef and owner of this superb small restaurant which would be an asset in any city in the world. Thank-you for a memorable evening for our family visiting from Sydney, Australia. It did take us some time to find the restaurant as our sat nav kept playing havoc with all the road blocks for the festivals, however our perserverance was well rewarded and we would highly recommend!

“Yummy yummy yummy!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

I had the best lunch of the summer here - fabby asparagus soup (off menu , just ask !) and the MOST AMAZING stuffed tomato. Stuffed with venison!!! Very intense flavours, and very filling. £16.50! Could hardly believe it! Can't wait to go back! Lovely wee restaurant, very quiet, very relaxed. Great stop if you 've been shopping in William St.

“Amazing food, understated elegance, an oasis of calm in the centre of Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

I have eaten here twice now, both times we had the petit menu, which is amazing value for the quality of the food; it is just as lovingly prepared and presented as the a la carte or tasting menus. The head chef (Damien Roulain) previously made a name for himself at L´Escargot Bleu on Broughton Street and is whipping up similarly fantastic food in the Mulroy. All dishes are made with locally sourced and seasonal produce, so the menu changes regularly. The service is polite, attentive and efficient without being over-the-top, and the restaurant provides a welcome relief from hectic Edinburgh in full tourist swing. My husband and I celebrate our birthdays one week apart, and this year we´re going to push the boat out and try the tasting menu with matching wines. I can´t recommend this restaurant enough.

“a piece of fine gastronomie in the heart of Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

I have been to the Mulroy last January with my friends as a treat from my husband for my birthday. He knows how much I LOVE gastronomie and how much I miss it being away from France.

We were so please. We loved it.

We choose the TASTING MENU, and Whaouh ! The food was simply exquisit. Beautifully presented, beautifully cooked... and so so good ! Every piece of meat was simply melted in our mouth. High Quality.

We are going back, hungrier than ever !
